Tom Coburn says he prays for Obama every day

he was on Wash. Journal this a.m. and said that he and Obama are best friends even though he disagrees with the jobs bill.

and he went on to tell his crackpot reasons for going against the jobs bill.

and he said:

that when he sees Obama, Obama asks him if he has prayed for him and Coburn says yes, every day.

------

does Obama say things like that? really? 'have you prayed for me?'

I wouldn't want Coburn for a friend, and I hope he never gets elected again.

3. They are like high school kids, jealous of the popularity of Obama
and slamming him at every turn. But trying to suck up at the same time. Jerks.

2. He asked a crowd to pray for him recently....
... I cant remember when it was, but it was either just before or just after the Inauguration. I know some of yall hate to hear this, but Barack believes in a power greater than himself.

And good for Coburn! Barack needs all the prayers he can get! I also pray for him every day. .... but now I think I'm also gonna start praying that the Republicans get over themselves. :)

6. I'd rather pray that God's will be done...however that might turn out

It bothers me that so many people are worried about Republicans/evangelicals might pray for the president.

One of the tenets of the faith is that you pray for your leaders regardless of whether they agree or disagree with you. I hope the right can be consistent in walking out their faith.

I have spent days on end praying for Bush and our country/our world living through his administration. Is that really controversial?

9. No, that's the right attitude.....
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 12:10 PM by Clio the Leo
.... and you of course always ask that God's will be done, that goes without saying. But the Bible is REPLETE with examples of asking for your own personal request ... "give us this day our daily bread" is an example of that boiled down to it's most simple form.

I dont mind saying that I pray Barack will say and do the right thing .... I have yet to be disappointed in him. I pray for his health and I pray that he will use the scripture that he and I both believe in to guide his life.

Couldn't hurt ... might help! ;)

(the part about praying that the Republicans get over themselves was a joke of course lol)

your friends.

5. I hope they do have a friendship
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 11:57 AM by Fabio
I think Tom Coburn is an odd man and conservative to the hilt, but he is what is he is and he is consistent. Sure, I wish Brad Carson had won that seat in 2004. Nonetheless, I think it shines a positive light on both men that they can have major idealogical differences but still have respect and, yes, even a friendship together. It doesnt bode well for the future of our country if our leaders cant meet as humans and debate as grown ups.

11. I have RW family members who pray for Obama. In their world, that's the nicest
thing they can do for a man whose policies they despise.

So, I view this as a good thing. I disagree with them on everything from religion to politics and beyond. But I know that in their world view, they're doing a good thing. For me it means they are staying true to their principles and even though I disagree with them I can appreciate that they're being consistent.

Contrast this to that nut job who killed people in the Unitarian Universalist church in Tennessee.

20. Seriously.
We're getting rocked. Or so I'm hearing from various friends. I'm out of state.

Coburn is a weird, weird guy. Better than Inhofe...but only slightly.

We can piss on the man's politics all we want, but he is not incapable of sincere (and positive) sentiment re. Obama.

19. There probably wouldn't be any government at all
just a series of well-armed militias. Still the Obama/Coburn Transparency bill proves you can find common ground with just about anybody on something.

Obama seems to have a bit of power, and we all know what the piggies worship. I guess they gotta be careful how they phrase these things, though.

is around that Coburn can't get the title of biggest dumbshit in the state.

25. Coburn is against any govt funding for the arts.
And he has a daughter, Sarah, who is an excellent opera singer.

Guess he wants all the opera companies to fail miserably and shut down.

:wtf: :grr: :banghead:
