Reid will be covering their ass by holding everything in conference and killing it if it fails to reach 60 votes. Let the GOP filibuster. Let them own their obstruction. Let them try and shut down the government. It worked so well for Newt.

that is all

1. You're probably right.. Imagine the news when the stock market crashes as a result..
.
.

It would likely be the best thing that could happen for us -- and the worst for THEM.

2. yep. It looked bad for Dixiecrats trying to hold up civil rights, and it will look bad
for the GOP trying to block economic stimulus, labor reform, progressive judges....

3. Chicken shit
Dashle and later Reid should have called Frist's bluff and told them to shove the fillybuster up the fucking asses. The dems saved it for a real important issue, like letting Roberts in and not using it. I don't know whose worse, the chicken shits representing us or the corksuckers on the other side.

5. Absolutely, let them show America what they are made of...shit for brains!
Seriously, that is just what needs to happen. Once this happens then their voice will be completely diminished, they will be rendered irrelevant for years to come.

6. I can't imagine why we are not doing this.
It's like Tweety said last week. Make them bring in the cots, make them talk all night. The Dems should force them to actually do a filibuster, right there in the public eye (they'll have to remove their finger first), instead of being cowed by the mere threat of a filibuster. When the American people see, day after day, the same Republicans we are all so tired of trying desperately to thwart our new president's efforts to save the country, the poll numbers for the wingnuts will go down even further.

Even without this, I am beginning to believe that Republican Congressional losses in 2010 will be as bad as '06 and '08 combined. They are throwing it away in so many ways. Oh happy day!

9. It's a shame they compromised with the "moderates"
I'm worried that by eviscerating the elements that provide actual stimulus with 42% tax breaks, the Senate bill gives us the worst of both worlds. It would be much wiser to go the other way and provide a true stimulus bill and invite the Republicans to sign their own political death warrant with a filibuster.

And absolutely, make them actually do the damned thing! We should welcome, not fear, the filibuster.

10. The Repukes don't have to fillibuster. When the Conservative Dems are on their side
I don't see why people can't see that Conservative Democrats and not Republicans are the problem

11. Reid can make the conservative dems show their face but he wont, the problem lies in the majority...
...leader not leading.

13. Agreed!
In the meantime I hope all those state and and municipal workers who will be laid off are calling their congresscritters. Add in all the autoworkers, education workers and others who have been cut out in the name of "pork".

There's also plenty to call them out on regarding the waste, fraud and abuse of the last 8 years!

I guess it's only pork if it's not going to the top 1% or KBR or Blackwater...

14. All the failures to humanity fo the past years need to be made clear to even the dimmest republican
All of the failures; the massive decrease in our national security due to torture and repudiation of rule of law, the increased risk of nuclear threat, the destruction of the environment and the looting of our economy.

All of this and more has made those most fearful far less safe, and they need to know it and own it.
