34. Very true.
Her sense of humor really pierces through the bull sh*t we call news. The best way to make a point is with sarcasm and humor . And she masters that. She Can't help it; if brilliant people ( she's a Rhodes scholar) report on the bizarreness of our system need show our contempt.

A Commerce Secretary who once said the department of Commerce should be abolished, for instance. Reminds me too much of Bush choosing Josh Bolton as UN rep though he said that no one would notice if 10 floors of a UN building were to disappear--goofy!

23. I suppose that's true. She isn't at all a bully to people who disagree with her,
but then again, I've picked up on what is, to me, a disappointing run of non-substantive interview segments, in which the guest offers little or nothing that she doesn't seem to be prompting the guest to say.

30. How is she like a liberal Hanitty?
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 02:41 AM by Reterr
For that, she would have to get behind Obama and the Dems unquestioningly and mindlessly support everything they suggest/do. She would also have to scream and rant at any guests whose opinions diverge from hers by an iota?

She does neither....a liberal Hannitty should be someone who supports the Democratic party's position (note: I am not saying the liberal position) on EVERYTHING without question, at the very least.

She is also highly educated and informed-another thing distinguishing her a lot from the Limbaughs and the Hannittys of the world...

11. I think so
The whole slangy inverted rhetorical question thingy is tired, maybe?

Then again, I happily give Olbermann a pass for dressing like a 1940s pimp and making Monty Python references, so I'm not necessarily the best judge.

He needs a Tommy Gun.

Note:I have pictures from my parents' wedding in 1947 and they look very gangster. Mom has a 2 piece suit on with big shoulders and pleated patch pockets with flaps, and a big hat. Dad has on a double breasted suit and is smoking a cigarette (outside).

Lookin' SHARP!!!

12. I think Rachel has been amazing lately.
She is covering alot of what is going on in depth.

Yeah - maybe she gets a little cutesy at times - but so does Keith.
Just think of his Oddball segment, his last segment and even the way he says "booshed".

I'll take a little silliness from these two because they are providing me with in depth reporting that I don't find on many other news shows.

15. I haven't watched it since campaign time. The night she was
reporting breaking news that Obama was suspending his campaign to visit grandma and going on and on about whether it would hurt him. He never said he was "suspending" his campaign? I don't care for the show. I think she's a smart lady and I hear she has good guests, but I'm done after Keith. I'm on to my regular shows.

She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. I really get sick of these threads. She's doing a fine job and would hate to see her show derailed or even cancelled because of what seems a campaign to diss her every time she makes a move. Success seems to bring out the jealous every time.
