Why would Gregg recuse himself from votes?
It gets dumber the longer you think about it.

Casting a vote to represent the people who elected you to cast votes cannot be a conflict of interest because you are nominated for a cabinet position.

It's the new high-water mark of weaseliness. Essentially, "I don't want to get mixed up in anything controversial while I'm being considered."

Vote the state or national interest as you perceive it on the day of the vote. That is your duty.

1. Why? Because he's playing Pontius Pilate, not wanting to anger his party
or the President.

2. Yes, and with the implication that the new Commerce Sec would have voted down the stimulus bill
Not ten years ago, but today.

So why is he the new Commerce Sec?

You don't want yes-men but you do want people who don't think your entire economic platform is a socialistic tax-and-spend boondoggle.

That seems like a minimum requirement for the job.

It's all too weird.

4. Well, that's why Gregg came out today to say he supports the bill
but won't vote for it, basically talking out of two sides of his mouth and having it both ways.

I'm as baffled as you are why Obama tapped Gregg for the position. I really don't see any advantages with this pick now Gregg's secured another repub to keep his seat warm (doesn't help with another Dem in congress) and being that he's voted against the Commerce dept a decade ago (not friendly towards that post from the get-go).

It just doesn't make sense to me.

3. Because he's a useless far-right piece of shit.

The more I think about Obama choosing Gregg the more pissed off I get. Dont get me wrong, I'm glad to have him out of my state but NOT to be given a place in the cabinet!!! Judd Gregg?? I mean seriously, Judd GREGG?!!

I dont understand it. Not only that... I hate it.

5. What if this entire situation was exactly the other way around
and Gregg was a Democrat about to join a Republican administration. Wouldn't we all be screaming that he should recuse himself for voting on a bill we did not like? I am also find it interesting the situational call to duty to either vote your conscience or vote the will of your constituency.
