Do you demand that Obama address your pet issue NOW?
Bush and CHeney fucked this country over big time, and fixing it will not be a 9 to 5 job. Much of the Obama strategy will also have to revolve around making sure he gets a 2nd term, as this is a 8 year job, not a 4 year job. We all have our pet issues. I'm no different. But priorities have to get set, and not everybody can be at the front of the line. Every special interest group thinks that they are special, that their issue deserves top consideration, to the exclusion of everything else that exists in the world.

I hate to break it to you, but some of you, with whatever your pet issue is, will have to take a number, have a seat and wait your turn.

3. Doubt that was the OP's intent.
How many executive orders did Bush promulgate. I'd at least Give Obama a week to draw up the paper work, needed to undo the Bush damage.

"...we fear that the designation of information as classified in some cases serves to protect the executive branch against embarrassing revelations and full accountability... Releasing declassified versions of these reports, or at least portions or summaries, would serve the public’s interest, increase transparency, promote effectiveness and efficiency at the FBI, and facilitate Congressional oversight." 7. Welcome to Governing
Obama sorts out the priorities but telling people to shut-up and stop lobbying their government over issues that are important to them because we won is fucking stupid. That's how you get your issue addressed not by sitting around waiting for our representatives including the President to address an issue. It's called feedback and they need to hear it, its also called democracy.

As far as being worried the coalition is going to fall apart because an issue hasn't been addressed your the one who is being stupid. Nobody were more disapointed than Hillary Clinton Supporters and 99% of them came around and voted for Barack. Unless the GOP promises to address that issue I doubt people are going to vote for them. Why would you vote for someone who is going to do the exact opposite of what you want done.

As long as he keeps his campaign promise to subsidize zombie movies his first year, I am cool.

9. I noted that the concerned "Rendition" folks came out quite assertively,
based on a "concerned" article which begins with these words......"Two days after taking the helm of a country....President Obama has" not done yet reversed such.

Means that the article was either written 10 days ago, or that the reporting is sloppy, and that whatever President Obama has not yet done at this point should NOT "concern" any of us in our right mind.

15. Why do you think my "pet issue" would distract from anything?
Full equality would not take away any time or resources from fixing the economy, creating jobs or bringing war criminals to justice.

Oh, but gay issues are not at all important to begin with.

17. Maybe I'm weird, but I enjoy finding out what fellow DU-ers care about.
I think most of us realize that Obama is going to prioritize. I think lumping people into "special interest" groups is a little callous. People are here to discuss things with like-minded people. Sure, there might be some "concern trolling" around some issues...but most of the posts I read in here seem genuine. YMMV. I think most people are here because they share goals.

19. Don't you have anything better to do than wring your hands over what other people
voicing their concerns? It's Poverty Awareness month, so yeah you're going to be seeing a lot of that. I didn't know that economic justice, poverty, equal rights, anti-war, etc. were "special interest groups".

Really now...what the fuck do you think you're accomplishing posting stupid shit like this? You think somebody out there is gonna look at themselves in the mirror and say "gee ya know what? Maybe the fact that the world's top 10% own 85% of EVERYTHING isn't such a big deal. I'm glad DU helped me learn to shut the fuck up and trust my government blindly to do what is best for the working class and the impoverished because that has ALWAYS worked out so well anyway". :eyes:

I guess some people just like hearing themselves talk.

on which society depends and on which all other issues follow! If my pet issue is taken care of, everything else falls in line!

Aside from that NO. The economy should and will take precedence over everything else.

25. Some so-called hot button issues
Abortion...Gay Rights...Guns...Anything progressive thing Obama does on these issues will be reversed if and when Republicans get back in power. I know people are passionate about all of these but unfortunately I think they will have to take a back seat...war and recession goin' on ya know. (Sarah Palin impersonation)
