Evan Mecham, AZ (1988) - impeached, removed, then acquitted
Guy Hunt, AL (1993) - convicted, then removed
David Walters, OK (1994) - indicted, plead guilty to misdemeanor
Jim Guy Tucker, AR (1996) - convicted, then resigned
J. Fife Symington, AZ (1997) - convicted, resigned, won an appeal, then pardoned
Edwin W. Edwards, LA (1998) - convicted after term
Edward DiPrete, RI (1998) - convicted after term
John G. Rowland, CN (2004) - resigned, then convicted
James McGreevey, NJ (2004) - resigned
Bob Taft, OH (2006) - convicted of four misdemeanors
George Ryan, IL (2006) - convicted after term
Ernie Fletcher, KY (2006) - indicted, charges dropped
Don Siegelman, AL (2006) - indicted, charges dropped, convicted after term
Eliot Spitzer, NY (2008) - resigned

Welcome to the hall of shame Governor Blagojevich (2009) - impeached and removed, banned from office, awaiting trial...

Arch A. Moore Jr., WV (1990) - pleaded guilty to corruption charges after term, served three years, paid $750,000 to the state, lost his pension and law license (don't leave your bribes in your desk drawer)

(ETA conviction after end of term)

4. Nope.
That was William Marland, elected in 1952 as the youngest Democratic governor in state history (there was a Republican governor who was slightly younger, and who later became the oldest governor in state history -- but that's another story....).

After his term as governor (at that term there was a one-term limitation), Marland run for the US Senate in 1958, losing in the primary to Jennings Randolph (who served honorably in that office until 19xx). Marland went to work for a coal company in Chicago, fell into a bottle, and ended up in a mental institution. He gave up alcohol, but couldn't focus sufficiently to work as an attorney, so he went to work for the Flash Taxi Company. He died of pancreatic cancer in 1965.

his daughter is currently my congresscritter -- Shelley Moore Capito. As we say here in the hills, the apple don't fall far from the tree.
