Rumor has it Michelle is pregnant.
Which is funny, because during the inauguration, my aunt told me she thought she was pregnant.

I remember reading a month or so ago that the Obamas always wanted another child, but I didn't buy it.

I still don't buy it, but wouldn't be shocked if she were pregnant.

5. She's 45 y.o. - I seriously doubt if she is pregnant.
Edited on Wed Jan-28-09 05:11 PM by ShortnFiery
The chances of having a Down's Syndrome Baby rise exponentially after age 40 y.o. ... increasing numbers of couples opt not to take that risk.

I want to believe that The Obamas are sated by the gifts of those two precious girls.

34. 35 is when they make you sign
that you were advised to have amniocenteses and listed the risk - if you chose not to have the test. (At least this was true in 1987 and 1990)

72. I got pregnant with my twins at 34 and they were born when I was 35
and I had to have genetic counseling and they STRONGLY encouraged me to have the screening tests. Everything came out well, along with many VERY detailed ultrasounds, so I didn't have to have an amnio. But yes, 35 is when the risks really start to go up.

12. One of the things that I have found most insulting
is when a woman is rumored to be pregnant.

Why would anyone even mention such a rumor?
Is it that she looks pregnant?
And if she isn't, isn't that the ultimate insult in insunuating that she looks it?

I have had friends that "looked" a little bit pregnant, and I still didn't bother to ask,
because if it turned out that they weren't, I would have done nothing but insulted them.

Mostly because it doesn't happen often.

I'd love for a baby to be in the White House. I think the Obamas are fantastic parents and if they want another child, it would be magical.

By no means am I suggesting she looks pregnant because I don't. I think she looks fantastic.

33. Family planning is important to
all, especially the low income.

Officials: Family planning money may be dropped
Jan-27-09 03:23 AM

Source: AP

WASHINGTON – House Democrats appear likely to jettison family planning funds for the low-income from an $825 billion economic stimulus bill, officials said late Monday, following an appeal from President Barack Obama at a time the administration is courting Republican critics of the legislation.

Several officials said a final decision was likely on Tuesday, coinciding with Obama's scheduled visit to the Capitol for separate meetings with House and Senate Republicans.

The provision has emerged as a point of contention among Republicans, who criticize it as an example of wasteful spending that would neither create jobs nor otherwise improve the economy.

Under the provision, states no longer would be required to obtain federal permission to offer family planning services — including contraceptives — under Medicaid, the health program for the low-income.

36. Or how about this one...
"They're doing this to distract the media from doing their jobs and asking him the tough questions every day." Rush and his ilk always think there's some elaborate scheme behind everything Obama does. "The stimulus package is all about trying to create eternal power for the Democrat Party" and not about trying to help get the country out of the economic mess we are currently in. There's always an underlying scheme according to the typical right wing logic.

And I respect her decision to choose what's best for her family.

As to whether birthing at age 45 is a precedent --

But I do recall Mrs. Tony Blair had a child at age 45 -the first one born at 10 Downing Street in many years. Cherie talked about it during a discussion of her book.

Sometimes you think you are in menopause and you are graced with a lovely surprise addition to your family.
