The Dem's took back Congress in '06 and for the Repubs it has been pretty much business as ususal due to the weak leadership by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. The Repub's need to hear that things have changed. The President just took away any doubts of that.

boasting and swaggering that they "oppose" the stimulus package for all of the reasons they DIDN'T oppose the billions wasted by the Criminal Bush Administration. They have NO power. They don't have the numbers. They can't even IMPEACH for the purposes of strangling progress.
They needed to be reminded that they have NO power because the American People swept their asses OUT.
That's what "I won" means.

|
For the most part, those who won elected office in '06 and '08 rode a wave of disappointment with the status quo that swept the entire nation. Let them reflect on this nationwide mood - without which they would be scrambling to make a living alongside the rest of us schlubs - and realize that they can just as easily be turned out onto the street if they fail to deliver on their promises to turn around the ship of state.
President Obama is serving notice to the de facto minority party that their bullshit has been soundly defeated in the arena of national politics. You know they're gearing up to become the Party of Obstruction, and Democrats had fucking well better stand together in order that the people's will get done!

It's a good thing that a Democratic president STOOD UP to the right, for a change.
In order to negotiate with political terrorists, you've got to show strength and earn their respect.
If Bill Clinton had done this in January 1993, we'd likely have been spared the nightmare of Speaker Newt and White Leader Trent.

No, the Republicans have already tried and failed to obliterate all political opposition and set themselves up as a one-party dictatorship.
No amount of provocation could make them do something worse than what they have been trying since 1994.

If President Obama stating the obvious rubs them the wrong way, than they aren't adult enough to participate.
Try not to allow yourself to be fooled by a few Internet comments. If They are done with Obama because he dared say that he won, then fuck 'em! They are probably part of the 12% who disapprove of Obama already anyways.

Can we at least get through the first month without getting all weak kneed about what the big bad Republicans might do? Good grief, these people got their tails whipped by the voters and some people are worried about what they might do. It's probably the same bunch who are afraid to follow the rule of law by prosecuting Bush crimes because they are afraid the Republicans won't like it. Sorry but this willingness to cave in to Republicans has gotten so bad that now some people do it before the Republicans even do anything. Get a spine!

and assumed, apparently, that they could just roll over them still. but obama let them know that those days are over. they can participate and get some of what they want, or they can oppose everything and get no input. it's up to them. at least he is letting them have input. bush and the republican congress just did whatever they wanted for the past eight years and the dems could either do what the repubs wanted of go pound salt. the dems are always too friggin afraid to stand up to the republicans. it's about time someone did.

It was the truth, something that is foreign to the Repubs. Besides, they spent the last eight years (at the very least) not giving a damn what the people thought with Chimp's phony "mandate". If they want to continue acting like the whiny brats that they are, let them.

He said it because the Republicans were arguing that they should not give tax credits to low income workers because it would be like giving them a welfare check. I really don't think they want to publicly defend that against Obama. It is a lose lose for them.
To "I won" he added that low income workers pay taxes (Sales, property, payroll) and added: "I will trump you on that." It will just make him look that much tougher and compassionate, and them that much more out of touch with real people.

Obama did win. The Democrats did whoop the Republicans' sorry asses from sea to shining sea. It's time they're made to understand that.

At one time in my life I voted for several Republicans. However, given what has transpired, starting with Nixon, their party has completely abandoned doing what is best for the nation. It has become the party of division and exclusion with some of the most evil propagandists spewing their message of hatred. Today when a person tells me that they are a Republican, I write them off as either being brain dead or a racist. The real pathetic cases are the working class Republican chumps. Now here is a whole class that is totally clueless in they actually cooperate with their own economic destruction.
