Its the end of Obama's first (partial) week, tell me again why he is not a progressive. . .

He signed an executive order which will lead to the closing of Gitmo

He embraced "non believes" in his inaugural speech

He signed an executive order repealing the ban on funding international groups that provide abortions.

Hey its only one partial week, however we need to have some standard on judging whether or not he is progressive. I'm sure he will have some progressive weeks, some not progressive weeks and some weeks that are a wash. After a year, after two, after four we will be able to see if he was a progressive president.

PS--I'm still for establishing a DU Progressive scorecard so that the term "progressive" is no longer subjective, anyone else in?

as a pragmatic progressive and as a result there will be some disappointments but overall his report card will likely be impressive. In his heart he is a liberal and this will in most cases carry the day.
