| Why do you suppose Chimpy didn't pardon Scooter? |
|
Keith says Cheney is attacking Chimpy for not granting the pardon.

But I go along with those who say that a pardon actually hurts Libby if he is ever questioned in the future. A pardon gives him no fifth amendment cover. I think that it is more Bush cover-up and this little story about Cheney being mad is just all make believe.
Libby is the G Gordon Liddy of this administration - the guy who takes the fall for the others. I feel sure he'll have a comfortable place with Halliburton or any other Cheney subsidiary for the foreseeable future.

|
Remember as governor of TX, he reveled in not pardoning requests. I think he gets a perverse pleasure in seeing the suffering that results from his denials of pardon. Libby was a subordinate, and, as such, not worthy of his "compassionate conservatism".

|
I'm a bit surprised he didn't try anyway, but if he pardoned anyone, or especially EVERYONE except himself, he'd be the only one that could be prosecuted. Now, everyone remains in hot water and has to help cover each others asses. cheney's barking is his way of trying to point a finger bush's way.
imho,

| 13. Bush didn't grant pardons when he was governor of Texas either. |
|
Texas was executing people left, right and sideways while Bush was Governor. For every execution, a last minute appeal was made to Bush. 140 men and women were executed in Texas while Bush was governor. As Ted Rall described it:
"As governor of Texas, Bush allocated a mere 15 minutes to consider the fate of each inmate, on a work schedule which allotted up to two hours to playing video games. During his tenure Bush issued ZERO commutations." By commutation, he could have changed their punishment to life imprisonment - he didn't have to free them. But he couldn't bring himself to ever, EVER do that.
Republican presidential candidate Gary Bauer criticized Gov. George W. Bush for making fun of an executed Texas woman in an interview Bush gave to Talk magazine. "I think it is nothing short of unbelievable that the governor of a major state running for president thought it was acceptable to mock a woman he decided to put to death." Just before her execution date, Tucker appealed for clemency on the grounds that she had become a born-again Christian. Bush's reply: " `Please,' Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, `don't kill me,'
And who was W's chief legal counsel at the time? Why it was Alberto Gonzalez!
Bush, like his beyatch mother, has no mercy in his heart - recall her comment about the victims of Katrina?
