I'm not a fan of the NRA, but there are other issues (abortion, for example) where I stray from party orthodoxy. Nobody should be blackballed because of his or her stance on a single set of issues.
If Gillibrand is the best pick, she should get the job. If Suozzi or Cuomo would make a better senator, they should get the job. Make the choice based on character, intellect, and ability.
