A reminder to any freepers and trolls trying to make an issue out of the "oath blooper"

The Oath of Office is actually merely a symbolic gesture. Barack Hussein Obama became president at 12 noon on January 20th. He actually held the office(by my count)for at least three minutes before the swearing-in occurred. But he was president in any case, and would have assumed the office even if the Chief Justice had refused to administer the oath and instead stripped off his robe and his pants while skipping away from the podium singing the theme to "H.R. Pufinstuff"(not that anyone needed that image, I realize, but the point had to be made).

The fumble in the oath no more invalidated President Obama's assumption of office than getting the giggles and stumbling over your wedding vows would invalidate your marriage.

2. Brian Willams actually made that observation when the oath took a bit more than a minute to start.

He basically said "Obama, at this moment, has officially become the POTUS." The oath hadn't even started yet and I was slightly dumbfounded, but then he explained the 12 noon thing.

4. Absolutely. To say otherwise would give the CJ the power to refuse to

swear in the elected President. No way does the Constitution contemplate giving the CJ that power.
