Call me a Star Trek geek but this song has been stuck in my head all day:

Originally used in the Patch Adams soundtrack later adapted to the Star Trek Enterprise TV show:

It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near

And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna hold me down

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith, Ive got faith, faith of the heart

It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I've finally have my day

And I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna change my mind

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith, faith of the heart

I've known the wind so cold, and seen the darkest days.
But now the winds I feel, are only winds of change.
I've been through the fire and I've been through the rain.
But I'll be fine.

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith

I've got faith of the heart.
I'm going where my heart will take me.
I've got strength of the soul. And no one's gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. I've got faith, I've got faith, faith of the heart.

It's been a long road.

1. No offense to the song, which is very nice, but it should never have been used as a ST theme. Just
didn't fit in with all the other great theme music.

9. I think they were trying to mirror the rock & roll favored by
Zefram Cochrane in First Contact.

3. Really??
As a long time Star Trek fan I really enjoyed this song so much more than the classical nonsense used in the previous series because it actually spoke to human emotion in a very real way. I thought it was a highly appropriate song.

Oh well to each his own.

4. I couldn't agree more. I HATED that song. So out of place.
So derivative. SO blah. Took me extra time to get into the series because I was so turned off by that lame-ass song. ICK.

7. Turn that frown upside down! I loved its use in Enterprise :)
The point, to me, wasn't about the science fiction of a grand and distant future of no wars or poverty on Earth. But about a future almost at hand and a little more contemporary, hence, a more down to Earth theme song. Plus, I don't necessarily associate it with the show but any kind of enterprise, big or small. Funny, I didn't like Enterprise but love the theme song

8. Hey, it's just one person's opinion.
I just could not get behind that song - thought it was just one of the lamest things I've ever heard. But that's just me. I like the visual montage at the beginning. And I eventually got into the story and characters et al, once the series went to DVD. But I was just really put off by that song for some reason.

Didn't mean to make you frown.
