Something old, something new, something borrowed ... Michelle Obama chose some pricey diamond chandelier earrings by local jeweler Loree Rodkin to accent the camel and black Narciso Rodriguez skirt and coat she wore to the "We Are One" concert Sunday in Washington. Obama apparently borrowed the earrings, valued at more than $17,000, from Ikram Goldman, the Chicago retailer who has been helping with her wardrobe over the last few months....

2. Not at all. Just to add, I don't think there's any criticism involved here.
In fact, I know there isn't. I think the point was she chose REAL jewelry on this occasion; on others, she doesn't -- which is her fashion hallmark of high/low.

Michelle is a delight and a great boon to all involved in the business of clothing and fashion (a business like any other, with jobs at stake) -- designers, manufacturers, retailers, and those who write about them.
