Dean not invited to the Obama/Kaine DNC event tomorrrow...
where Kaine will be ushered in as chairman.

This is according to Sam Stein at Huff Post. Maybe that is why Howard Dean is finally taking his trip to American Samoa this week.

From Huff Post:

Howard Dean Left Out Of Obama/DNC Affair

Barack Obama is set to host a press conference with incoming Democratic National Committee Chair Tim Kaine on Thursday in what will ostensibly mark the beginning of a new era for the party and the committee.

Noticeably absent from the affair will be the individual who symbolized the old regime.

Former Gov. Howard Dean is not on the list of attendees for the event, a noticeable nonattendance for someone largely credited with revitalizing the Democratic Party ranks and contributing - whether politically or through his 50-State Strategy - to major electoral gains.

It is not known if Dean's absence reflects a snub or a scheduling conflict. The Obama transition office did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

But a source close to the outgoing DNC chair said that Dean was not asked to attend and is not scheduled to be at the presser.

It's ridiculous, without Dean and his progessive plan we might not have a Democratic President.

22. This coming from someone who's been SO complimentary towards Dean in the past
"And they (the DNC) are not getting a nickel from me after the bias and incompetency shown during these primaries! I guess Dean isn't the great "fundraiser" after all. LOL!" ~ saracat, 5/2/08 http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

"He will not go down in history for his 50 state strategy but for allowing or attempting to disenfranchise two states. I know it isn't entirely his fault and the states participated in this, but he is Chair and "the buck stops there".He couldn't control the states." ~http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

"Someone is going to have to negotiate this. And Dean isn't proving effective.he has been too partisan." ~saracat, 3/6/08 http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

I know you love any excuse to bash Obama, but showing outrage on behalf of a man you spent months bashing is beyond all strains of credibility.

I know madfloridian is a huge Dean supporter (as am I), so maybe that's why. Madfloridian certainly has the right to be indignant on behalf of Dean if there is something to be indignant about, but seeing indignance on his behalf from saracat is pretty laughable. It would be kind of like me being so eager to criticize Hillary during the primaries that I got indignant on behalf of the Bush administration for things she said about them.

6. Dean's attending an inauguration so who knows who's decision this
was. So let's fret, or someone ask Dean STAT!

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/01/07/dean-to... /

Current Chairman Howard Dean is leaving Thursday morning for Pago Pago, American Samoa to attend the inauguration of that territorys governor, and to help raise money for the Democratic Party there. Dean has so far visited all 50 states, and all territories except American Samoa.

Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, who was on the shortlist to be Obamas vice-president, will succeed Dean and formally take over his DNC post later this month.

7. I think I am right about why he scheduled his trip to Samoa.
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/...

Makes sense now. He also has an event in Nigeria next week. He said he would be making paid speeches.

I say good for him. He's going to Europe this month also.

I hope to hell he has a good life and profits well from this efforts because this party has screwed him and turned us over to the religious right.

24. I don't know. I posted Sam's article.
It quotes a source next to Dean that he was not even invited. If not invited they would not know if he had plans.

You know what? I don't care.

For five years I cared and worked hard for this party.

Now it is back in the hands of the people who took us to Iraq.

I don't care anymore.

The conservative Dems have their party back. They could at least be gracious.
