You know the "Serenity" prayer?
Edited on Tue Jan-06-09 02:39 PM by cali
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are great examples of things you can't change- at least not now, and unless you live in Nevada or Pelosi's district in CA, not ever.

There is nothing more pointless than demanding that Reid or Pelosi be kicked out of the leadership.

1. ARIZONA? What, are you gonna launch a missle at Nevada and hit Reid?
Reid isn't from Arizona--he's a born-n-raised Mormon Nevadan.

The people who decide if they stay and go are their PEERS. The Senators and Representatives pick their own leadership--not us. They decide who they want to speak for them, and they've chosen Reid and Pelosi.

It's not up to us.

4. I actually like Pelosi, but I'm going to kind of disagree with you on the "pointless" charge.

It is true that much of what we do here (and elsewhere) is pointless, but the way I see it, going after Reid and Pelosi is as useful as anything here can be useful. They may be representatives of their home state and district respectively, and they may not be leaving their seats any time soon, but as party leaders, they govern with an eye towards both the party and the nation. We would be remiss if we didn't make it as clear as possible that we expect a vigorous reform agenda. And yeah, I think that calling for their heads counts towards that. They don't look to us to see what our individual plans are, they look to us (to the extent that they look at us at all) to see how we react to their plans.

At the same time, I think that most of what's going on regarding Reid, Pelosi, and especially Obama is nothing more than wolf-crying. There's really only so many times that certain people can be actually stabbed in the back, slapped in the face, and thrown under the bus before Obama has signed his first bill.

5. Let them "lead"
so long as the only leading they're assigned to do, is cutting ribbons at the openings of mini-malls.
