How Reid brought this Burris mess upon himself
NOTE: I will continue to push back and defend Reid against attacks from DUers who just hate Reid for the sake of hating Reid

HOWEVER Reid brought this Burris situation on himself because the minute Blagojevich was arrested Dick Durbin called for a special election to name Obama's replacement, Illinois Democrats all jumped on the band wagon, and were preparing to move the necessary legislation (EVEN BLAGOJEVICH SAID HE WOULD SIGN THE LEGISLATION ) but Reid tolk everyone to put the breaks on because he was afraid the Democrats would lose the seat in a special election, so the legislature made impeachment a priority instead of passing the legislation that would have set forth a special election.

1. I don't dislike Reid for who he is.
I dislike him because he is weak and ineffective.

4. Sure. He was ineffective in his approach to Blago's initial
arrest. He made a mess out of what could been avoided. This is another example of his ineffective leadership. Since he caused this mess, he should be blamed.

3. Reid is making a mockery of the rule of law and due process. Of course they did the same with
FISA, but at least they could point to all the Repos 'doing it too,' on FISA.

Here's it's all about who Reid wants in that IL seat.

5. I dislike Reid because he is a DLC coward who, along with Pelosi and other
spineless Dems, demonstrate a lack of leadership. He is ineffective as a leader and has allowed the Republicans to get away with a long list of transgressions against the Constitution. If I had a dime for every time he has caved to the Republicans, I would be able to fund an economic stimulus myself with my billions.

6. In the wake of a spectacular Democratic victory it is unlikely to the
extreme that the senate seat would be lost to a Republican. Therefore, it must be assumed that Reid was afraid of it being lost to a non-DLC Democrat, rather than one of the half dozen names that he offered up.

FUCK the DLC and FUCK Reid.

7. The Special Election would have been a slam-dunk.
Devoid of taint, probably a sure-win with a couple Obama visits.

Reid has to be replaced, but I do support him on blocking the appointment. I just wish our state could push impeachment through so Pat Quinn could give us somebody free from all of this.

8. Agree with you wholeheartedly. Have been sitting here watching events and
wondering what the heck he was thinking. We don't need this right now. None of it.
