7. I don't think so--he just mentioned Pres. Clinton's surgery.

I think he's doing FABULOUSLY. He is articulate and absolutely homing in on points many DUers have made. Larry King is utterly silent and body language is cold. Bill Maher is hitting the mark.

For example, he said the Repubs. argue it's ok to let the assault weapons ban end because 30 year crime low. Maher points out that maybe the ban was one of the factors that LED to a this low point.

When Larry asked if so many people support it, then why wouldn't Bush let the ban continue? Maher pointed out that the corps. are giving Bush a lot of money to help him convince Americans that certain actions are in their best interests when they are not.

Back to the Tv.

will have expired. It reruns at midnight EST.

3. King: Isnt Kerry's ineffective response to SBV a "measure of the man?"
Let me get this straight - Kerry's failures, in the eyes of some, to adequately respond to the Swift Boat lies somehow reflects negatively on his character? If that's the case, isn't Bush's under-the-radar cooperation in the attacks also "a measure of the man?" Why the one-sided question?

C'mon Larry - your bias is showing...

5. Larry's a dick
you're right -- he keeps asking loaded, disparaging questions about Kerry.

12. My opinion - unfortunately, Maher agreed with King about Kerry . . .
But didn't note that Bush's character is also being measured by HIS involvement to the attacks on Kerry.

9. Maher asks why aren't Kerry's official military records good enough
He made a good point that although all of the official military records support Kerry's service and medals, that wasn't good enough for him, but we are supposed to just accept that shrub got an honorable discharge and not question anything about his service.

11. Maher just said that the media has a responsibility to present
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 08:40 PM by gauguin57
the information people need in order to realize there is NO CONNECTIN BETWEEN SADDAM AND 9/11!!! He says the media is largely responsible for people not knowing there's no connection.

He said the media are lazy, stupid(?) and bitchy. Not left-wing ... LAZY.

Yeah!

And, he said the difference between today's Iraq war and the Vietnam War is that in Vietnam, George W. Bush had an "exit strategy" ... bwaaaahhhaaaaa

13. Maher said Repugs are good at taking the "other guy's" best issue
and turning it against him ... like Kerry's service.

Maher also said that Dubya's flashbacks are of blackouts!! Hee.

... for the ability to say the eff word, he cuts out lots of non-HBO-subscribers from his interesting insights.

17. I liked what Maher said about some Democrats' stand on
gay marriage ... Right-wingers believe what they read in the Bible, that homosexuality is an abomination. Maher said, "I get that. It's stupid, I don't agree, but I understand it."

Democrats, on the other hand, he says, don't believe gay people are any less than anyone else, or that they are sinners. But yet they only want to allow them civil unions.

I do get annoyed that the Dems. equivocate on this issue, when we all know how they feel about it.

Of course, the Dems. can say anything, and then do whatever they want about gay marriage once they're elected, and just say, "Eh, sorry. I misspoke ... I meant to say I advocate allowing gay marriage across America."
