OBAMA TEAM BETTER LEARN FROM BUSH/CHENEY: Media management and "tough love"
Edited on Wed Dec-24-08 11:25 AM by Julius Civitatus
I thought I would never say this, but the Obama team better take a page from Bush/Cheney on how to deal with the media.

Case point:

  • For 8 years, most MSM weasels were SCARED SHITLESS of the reactions from Bush/Cheney. Karl Rove managed the White House press corps with an iron fist, and for most of the last 8 years, the media were docile, subservient, barely ever raising any issues, and barely even whispering when the Republicans were openly and blatantly committing fraud, war crimes, or trampling on the constitution. Rove was known to doggedly persecute any journalist or reported who said anything about Bush and Cheney that he didn't like. Rove kept the media in line for 8 years by blatant fear tactics.

  • Obama has not even been sworn, and we have major media outlets (I'm not talking just Fox, but channels like CNN or CBS), attacking him and openly looking to start false scandals like they did to Clinton. The reporting of the Blagojevicth investigation I saw last night on CNN was absolutely scandalous, worthy of the worst Fox News pseudo-journalism.
The disrespect and contempt that oozed from the reporting was troublesome. I believe the MSM media whores are ready to start the same type of shenanigans they enjoyed so much during the Clinton years.

I think Rahm Emmanuel and the Obama team better learn their lesson, and start acting tough with the MSM. They better start kicking butt and taking names quick, or we will have a repeat of the horrendous 8 years of Clinton's fake scandals, where allegedly reputed media outlets like the NY Times or the Washington Post devoted tons of ink daily to the every fake scandal, rumor, or innuendo without any proof or verification.

It really worries me that Obama has not even started his presidency, and the MSM is already in full attack mode. Forget the traditional "100 days honeymoon" that the media traditionally grants a new president. The guy has not even been sworn, and they are already working fake scandals.

It bothers me the stark contrast in media attitudes. Still today, most MSM media whores act like scaredy cats around Bush, and more so around Cheney. No matter how outrageous their actions, the MSM (with honorable exceptions like Keith Olberman) would act like Yet they are already trashing and questioning Obama's team nilly-willy.

Be ready, folks. This is going to be nasty, bumpy road. We need to be vigilant and make sure we denounce this unfair, cowardly, and dishonest double-standard by the media. But overall, I really hope the Obama team learned their lesson and are ready to be tough and treat the the media with the same "tough love" the Bush team gave them.

1. Bush / Cheney bribed their owners and threatened families. We can't do that. (nt)

2. I know, I understand.... but they can't let the MSM run wild either

I totally agree with your point, but I think they need to be tough and smart about their management of the media. Otherwise, we will have a repeat of the media treatment of the Clintons, a true low in the history of American journalism.
