Townhall says Hawaii is NOT part of the US.

TAMRON HALL: Matt, I bring up location because obviously I think if it were really a big deal and there was something that he needed to do, meaning the President-Elect, any type of damage control, he would be in Chicago and not on vacation, which gives off the idea obviously he knows what's in the report. If he's easy-going at the golf course, whatever we read tomorrow won't be a big deal.

MATT LEWIS: I think it's very likely what we read tomorrow will not be a big deal. However, you know, you could make an argument that if he wants it to appear to be not a big deal he would be out of the country. But, look, I find the most interesting thing about this is the Chicago Tribune reported last week there were, like, twenty-one phone conversations between Rahm Emanuel and Blago.

The site has video.

Lewis, the Townhall shrieker, is basically saying that since Obama is in Hawaii he's trying to make it appear as though the scandal is not as big as it really is. So, this is how Right/Reich Wingers view Hawaii- exotic, faraway, not part of the country.
Tamron Hall, the black lady hosting the show, used the word vacation, not overseas vacation. So obviously she sees Hawaii as part of the union.

But, if Obama were guilty of some major malfeasance, wouldn't it be more suspicious if he were out of the country, rather than in-country? After all, people tend to LEAVE THE COUNTRY when they commit a major crime to avoid being caught. Just saying...

1. My grandma was born in Hawaii in 1885
and was considered a citizen of the US and this was before it was officially a state - go figure

2. What I don't get is that Alaska isn't part of the continental 48 states either but somehow
it doesn't get half the shit that Hawaii seems to be getting. Seriously, I don't want to beat up on Alaska but that's a stupid double standard right there.

4. Too funny. It's either a big deal because he's hiding in Hawaii. Or it's not a big deal because
he's vacationing in Hawaii. These guys are brilliant!
