Washington Times: Bounce buoys Bush electoral-vote tally
The Washington Times believes its state-by-state review shows Bush leads in Ohio and Missouri and enough other states that he now has 269 electoral votes.

Bounce buoys Bush electoral-vote tally

By Donald Lambro
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

President Bush leads John Kerry in enough states in the South, West and Midwest to put him within striking distance of the 270 electoral votes needed to win a second term, a state-by-state analysis by The Washington Times suggests.
Helped by a bounce from the Republican National Convention, his polling numbers have moved outside the margin of error in Florida, Ohio and West Virginia. Mr. Bush appears to be challenging Mr. Kerry as well in several large states in the East and Midwest. Democrats won those states in 2000.<snip>

1. Ohio?
Wasn't there a poll yesterday showing a 46-46 tie in Ohio and Rasmussen consistently has had Kerry two points up in the state. It is not in Bush's column (despite Gallup) it is at best a toss up.

Missouri, the latest poll I saw (Survey USA) has the race at 48-46 Bush.

3. Last three polls in Ohio
are:

SUSA Bush +3
Gallup Bush +9
Zogby Bush +10.9

Ohio is trending away, as is Missouri.

8. Rasmussen premium members get daily tracking polls

and he has had Kerry averaging a two point lead in Ohio for the past couple of days. So I don't think, as you apparently want to that Ohio is trending away. Also Kerry wouldn't be spending so much money and time in Ohio if his own internal polls were showing him 9 or 10 points behind.

Also the most recent poll in Missouri has Kerry only 2-points down which is the SUSA poll. Well within the margin of error.

6. Thank you for this yellow journalism moment from Moonie Times

7. Is that an acutal photo?
That would be dynamite among Falwell's followers along with Myung's claim to be Christ.

11. Too bad all those polls are old.....
Pennsylvania is back in the Kerry column (but within MOE).
Ohio is in Bush's column but within MOE.
The gap in Minnesota is actually WIDENING in favor of Kerry.
Wisconsin is back in Kerry's column (but within MOE).
New Mexico is strongly in Kerry's column.
Missouri is in Bush's column but is within the MOE.

Oddly enough the Moonie Times doesn't mention Colorado, where KERRY IS LEADING.

Nor do they mention Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina, where Bush is struggling to keep a very slight lead. All of those states IIRC are within the MOE and with good turnout could switch our way.
