When Obama becomes the president he will be the BIGGEST gay advocate ever!
Well, that is something you read often on DU these days.

Notably from the crowd who argue that Obama is not the president yet, let him take office and then judge him. :rofl:

Of those who manage to get elected president he has a very low hurdle and will likely exceed past presidents as well as a McCain Palin ticket.

9. Why not? He has before.
Despite his stance for civil unions instead of gay marriage, he does have a record of sponsoring a gay rights bill in Illinois and has always been for advancing equality. If we get to the point in the next 4-8 years when gay marriage can become the law of the land I don't think Obama will be the one standing in the way of it.

8. You're probably right.
Sadly, that won't take much. But I expect he will be the most pro-gay rights President we've had up to this point.
