Minnesota Canvassing Board breaks for the night Coleman + 5 now discussing important issues
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 06:09 PM by grantcart
Continuing the thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7999618

They will now be discussing "blue file" "green file" issues

Watch it live here: http://www.startribune.com/video/?ls1=1&elr=KArksDyycyUtyycyUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU

Blue File Ballots are those without duplicates. Franken wants them counted Coleman does not.

The Supreme Court also has to rule on about 1500 Absentee ballots that were submitted correctly but not counted. Franken wants them counted Coleman does not.

All Coleman has done is succeeded in wasting everyone's time with frivolous challenges

3. when they return they will be discussing "blue" and "green" files

Blue files include all of the ballots where the original ballot and the copy have become seperated

Green files include incident related ballots - custody, challenges were not allowed etc.

The Franken has 339 challenges in the Green file

2. Coleman knows that if those ballots are included and counted, he will lose.
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 06:38 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
Repugs never want democracy. They have a disdain and hatred for Americans and the democratic process. Their entire history has been based on rule by the priviledged few, and they will argue that not everyone should be allowed to vote. Now why would they make these arguments against democracy? They do so because they know that should everyone's vote count, they would lose!

17. Coleman's attorney will be arguing that the Canvassing board
has no authority to "recount" ballots that were not counted election night.

They may succeed on that issue. I have no idea what argument that they will put to the Supreme Court that the Supreme Court should not count validly submitted ballots.

22. it appears that a few ballots in every precincts were set aside and not counted when they should
have been.

In many places late arriving absentee ballots are counted the day after, late arriving military votes for example.

I don't think anyone thought it would even be an issue until Coleman went to the court and stopped them from being counted.

Again I think Coleman is just wasting people's time on frivolous issues that they have no hope of winning.

28. Reporters are advising that the Supreme Court has issued an injunction
from counting "improperly rejected" ballots.

Any ballots where both campaigns agree are improperly rejected can be counted.

It may be a procedural win for Coleman but eventually improperly rejected ballots will be counted.

34. stopped counting at the local level

I think the issue is that a universal standard needs to be applied and not by the local board.

Either the canvassing board or some other entity will evaluate them and count them.

I don't think that there is any possibility that they will not be counted.

....and the US Supreme Court hadn't stepped in and stopped the recount, it would have been a great thing. Chances are very certain that we would have seen that creeping victory where Gore whittled down the margin before finally overtaking Bush.

If only...
