Just so everyone can fully understand
All that compromising and capitulating the democratic congress did for Bush over the past 8 years on everything from the tax cuts, the war, torture, the bank bailout has been paid back today with the auto bail out bill.

We act like wimps they'll treat us like wimps. These fuckers just voted to allow an American Industry die because they don't like unions. They would rather Japan assemble cars in Southern States than an American Company make cars in Northern and Midwestern states because of Unions.

Remember this day everyone. These fuckers aren't playing fair and they can't be bargained with. They are going to do everything they can to stand in the way of Obama.

Fuck you Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi for not understanding that these people aren't your friends and don't play fair.

4. It's like watching the steel industry die all over again
In my town, which made the steel that built most of the sky scrapers in this country built before 1985, they have just erected a slot machine parlor (I don't consider a place that only has slots a casino) where the steel plant was 15 years ago.

Okay, now you're making me mad. Harry Reid did everything he possibly could to get the auto bridge loan bill through. Try watching the Senate on c-span something and find out how much this man really does for middle class America.

Like the past 2 years or the 2 years before that when he was minority leader the republicans would be afraid to pull this shit now.

They rightly think he's a fucking wimp and therefore they can pull this shit.

5. agreed. They have just killed Michigan... where I live...
My husband's business, electrical contracting, that was hanging by a thread will probably go down the tubes. I am worried about my job as one of my lawfirms largest clients is GMAC auto insurance...

My property value will go down even more and there will be many more homeless here, and more on the welfare rolls.

These fuckers have just put this country into a depression....and all the media wants to talk about is blagojevich and made up ties to Obama...

what in the hell is wrong with these idiots? The only hope is that Bush doesn't want the failure of american manufacturing on his head and will release some of the TARP fund for the auto industry. I won't hold my breath though!

Jesus fucking Christ on a Ritz, these two need to get kicked the fuck out of their respective positions. I don't believe there has ever been as dramatic of an instance of 'Please, just let me bend over for you while you fuck me hard up the ass' like this in the Congress since it's inception. Dear Fucking God, if you exist, please rise Wellstone up from the dead.

Mark my words, people a hundred years from now will mark today as the day America entered into the 2nd Great Depression to end all Great Depressions.

37. 10 Republicans voted for Cloture (meaning to move to break the filibuster)
Bond (R-MO)
Brownback (R-KS)
Collins (R-ME)
Dole (R-NC)
Domenici (R-NM)
Lugar (R-IN)
Snowe (R-ME)
Specter (R-PA)
Voinovich (R-OH)
Warner (R-VA)

Some of them may have voted No if the vote were closer. It is hard to say.

42. Not likely.
When Clinton took office there were 57 Democrats in the Senate. Two years later, Dems lost nine seats ( I doubt that will happen in 2010):

103rd Congress (1993-1995)

Majority Party: Democrat (57 seats)

Minority Party: Republican (43 seats)

Other Parties: 0

Total Seats: 100

Note: Party division changed to 56 Democrats and 44 Republicans after the June 5, 1993 election of Kay B. Hutchison (R-TX).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

104th Congress (1995-1997)

Majority Party: Republican (52 seats)

Minority Party: Democrat (48 seats)

Other Parties: 0

Total Seats: 100

Note: Party ratio changed to 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats after Richard Shelby of Alabama switched from the Democratic to Republican party on November 9, 1994. It changed again, to 54 Republicans and 46 Democrats, when Ben Nighthorse Campbell of Colorado switched from the Democratic to Republican party on March 3, 1995. When Robert Packwood (R-OR) resigned on October 1, 1995, the Senate divided between 53 Republicans and 46 Democrats with one vacancy. Ron Wyden (D) returned the ratio to 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats when he was elected to fill the vacant Oregon seat.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

105th Congress (1997-1999)

Majority Party: Republican (55 seats)

Minority Party: Democrat (45 seats)

Other Parties: 0

Total Seats: 100

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

106th Congress (1999-2001)

Majority Party: Republican (55 seats)

Minority Party: Democrat (45 seats)

Other Parties: 0

Total Seats: 100

Note: As the 106th Congress began, the division was 55 Republican seats and 45 Democratic seats, but this changed to 54-45 on July 13, 1999 when Senator Bob Smith of New Hampshire switched from the Republican party to Independent status. On November 1, 1999, Smith announced his return to the Republican party, making the division once more 55 Republicans and 45 Democrats. Following the death of Senator Paul Coverdell (R-GA) on July 18, 2000, the balance shifted again, to 54 Republicans and 46 Democrats, when the governor appointed Zell Miller, a Democrat, to fill the vacancy.
