Hillary and Biden fight over Obama who'll win?

The Battle For Barack

The 2008 presidential race may still be a ways off, but sources say Democratic hopefuls New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and Delaware Sen. Joe Biden have already clashed in their courtship of potential running mate and presumed party savior Barack Obama. The wooing began not long after Obama won his Illinois senate seat last November when an unofficial Clinton-Obama 2008 organization began circulating bumper stickers for the possible pairing. Sensing an opening, Clinton quickly bonded with Obama, playing up their shared Chicago roots and partnership on the outr Environmental and Public Works Committee. But Clintons gonna have to do a lot better than that if she wants to outplay Biden, sources say. Not only was the silver-haired senator a fixture at Obamas Chicago campaign fundraisers last year, he also managed to snag his new pal a coveted slot on the decidedly more glamorous Foreign Relations Committee, providing the two with some priceless photo ops in the battleground states of Iraq and Afghanistan. With a recent Pew Research poll showing a majority of Americans supposedly ready to vote for Hillary, the former First Lady isnt likely to roll over and let Biden poach her hoped-for secret weapon. Hillary practically adopted Obama, and now Joes stealing her baby, says one Capitol Hill observer. Shes definitely got a grudge against Biden. No word on whether either would-be candidate has consulted Obama for his opinion on the matter.

3. Reccommend
My little brother called it at Obama's 2004 convention speech. I was like "Who?" My little bro sure is smart!

These archived threads make very interesting reading, for sure.

Oh how far we've come!

8. Read this from the "what year will obama first be elected" thread...
posted by bling bling:

If he runs, he'll get elected.

Getting him to run and getting the party to support his run are the biggest barriers.

I think that Obama can transcend the racial barrier, even with people who are characteristically prejudiced. He is absolutely mesmorizing. He brings out the hope and energy in us that Americans are becoming desperate for. He's extraordinary.

And anyway, I think the polls would see a record turnout of dem and progressive voters, women voters, young voters, minority voters, and new voters in general if Obama ran.

If those words weren't right on the money, I don't know what is...where is bling bling? That dude (or dudette) is a prophet LOL

12. The first black president will likely be a moderate Republican
but not in my lifetime. As for Obama, he has great potential. I know rednecks here in southern Illinois that voted for him and if you ask them why they will tell you "because he came here". The guy has guts, brains and charisma ..... don't underestimate him

9. Obama should keep his distance from Democrats....
...who are on the Corporate Payroll.
He was smart enough to distance himself from the DLC a few months ago.

<snip from Daily Kos>
"They may love the guy, but Obama wants nothing to do with the DLC. Remember, Obama raised over $3 million from MoveOn members, the very organization the DLC wants purged from the party's ranks. We know where Obama's loyalties lie, and it's wiith the netroots. He's one of ours.

This little episode also highlights the DLC's interesting tactic of slapping up people on the list without asking for permission to do so, an attempt to take credit for peoples' success."

20. He has a WONDERFUL RECORD in Illinois
He had no competition because the competition was terrified of him.

He's a Liberal who can use moderate rhetioric and get away with it, thus moving the bar of moderation back to where it belongs!

16. "Hillary and Biden fight over Obama"
LOL. Isn't it usually the newbie who's trying to win over the oldies? I guess being a national superstar and winning with 70% of the vote really does wonders for your social standing.
