So I'm watching Tweety's banner assert "liberals angry at Obama's center-right cabinet,"
and my first reaction is to get irritated. After all, liberals are by and large quite happy with Obama, and claiming otherwise based on a few determined malcontents is pure pot-stirring. Conflict leads to ratings, after all. But then I realized: if the MSM is asserting, without qualification, that Hillary Clinton, Bill Richardson, Tim Geitner, and James Jones are more right wing than the average American, then I think that's a good sign for our fight to recapture the American soul.

1.  Actually quite a few liberals ARE upset. There have been quite a few
articles about this. And many postings on DU and the "liberal" blogs indicate this is so. It remains to be seen what path Obama will actually take in the presidency but he hasn't appointed many liberals. And Rahm Emmanuel isn't a good sign.

4. Sorry, but you and your handful of can't-get-over-its are not "quite a few."
Obama's approval rating is sky-high, and those against him are almost entirely the Bush faithful.

5.  Sorry but this isn't about Obama approval ratings . It is unhppiness with cabinet appointments
and whether you like it or not there is a lot of buzz about those. It remains to be seen how it will all shake out.And they are referring only to liberals.

Just curious.

I did a shit load and I've been doing a happy dance since 8pm Nov. 4 when they called PA.

I'm guessing that she Probably wrote in John Edwards' name.

And, without being thrilled, I voted for him. But I was a campaign manager for a local race and was more interested in the local races, honestly. Get over yourself and the primaries.

12. Nope. Polls show that most people--and the vast majority of liberals--are very happy
with his appointments. The only people who aren't are the fringey perpetual malcontents and the sore losers.

20. I don't think you are a very good..
spokesperson for those on the left who are unhappy with 'cabinet appointments'. You've made it very clear, for a very long time now, that you are repulsed by the very idea of a President-elect Obama. I have no problem with your opinion, but I do think it is disingenuous to suggest that your unhappiness has to do with his 'cabinet appointments'.

But it is disingenous to imply that many on the left are not unhappy with some of the cabinet choices. My inbox is full of the complaining. Everyone from Tim Carpenter of PDA to Amrica's Blog.

3. True....to some degree, they are now categorizing correctly.
How about that?

However, then Chris Matthews said, Obama should be how he promised he would be during the election. However, when I think about it, I don't recall how Obama characterized himself, other than to say that he wanted everyone to vote for him. Did I miss a speech in where he announced that he was a left wing progressive?

He never said how he'd end the Bush tax cuts on the wealthy whether he would let them expire or repeal them.

from a while back -- within the year-- and before Russert died (who did not like Matthews) he had a serious concern that he wasn't going to get renewed at all.

And the fact that any on DU took him seriously or thought it was a good idea for him to run as the Democrat in Pennsylvania is very, very sad...............

14. The more angry liberals the better
We're here to make noise, get angry and to also make Obama seem like he's governing from the center when he's enacting left-of-center legislation. If he proposes universal healthcare, we criticize him for not going far enough; if he withdraws most troops from Iraq in a year, we criticize him for not doing it within 6 months; if he proposes to invest $100 billion in infrastructure, we criticize it for not being $200 billion...

22. Indeed
The moniker 'liberal' has a hard enough time making it in politics without all the nagging going on about Obama's picks.

While it is true that:

We're here to make noise, get angry and to also make Obama seem like he's governing from the center when he's enacting left-of-center legislation.

We walk a fine line doing so. Well, some of us have crossed that line. I put it down to inexperience, just plain trash-talking, and simple minded contrariness.

I mean come on, Obama was elected to preside over HIS administration... let him preside! Let him pick who he wants to work side-by-side with him everyday. This constant nagging about minutiae is going way of track, and frankly embarrasses me as a liberal, seeing how other supposed liberals are acting the fool.

We are here to make noise, but who doesn't prefer music noise over tongue wagging noise?

I've certainly been determined in my opposition to centrism, including Obama's centrism, for many years.
