Just got off the phone with an Obama Organizer
Edited on Sun Dec-07-08 07:37 PM by Jake3463
I'm hosting a house party Saturday and they gave me the plan going forward with the volunteers.

1) Help put pressure on Congress for President Obama's agenda

2) Organize for local elections in 2009 and congressional elections in 2010

3) Be civically minded and chose a group that helps the community. One group so our impact can be greatest felt.

I'm also getting a DVD. They said they are keeping over 100 people on staff to keep the volunteer network mobilized and organized.

Good signs...good signs.

:-)

6. Barackobama.com
The rollout for this effort will be at the house party. Since I'm hosting I got a call from Chicago from one of the Obama grassroots leaders...

Sign up for a party

Exactly one month ago, you made history by giving all Americans a real opportunity for change.

Now it's time to start preparing and working for change in our communities.

On December 13th and 14th, supporters are coming together in every part of the country to reflect on what we've accomplished and plan the future of this movement. Your ideas and feedback will be collected and used to guide this movement in the months and years ahead.

Join your friends and neighbors -- sign up to host or attend a Change is Coming house meeting near you.

Since the election, the challenges we face -- and our responsibility to take action -- have only gotten more urgent.

You can connect with fellow supporters, make progress on the issues you care about, and help shape the future of your community and our country.

Learn what you can do now to support President-elect Obama's agenda for change and continue to make a difference in your community.

Take the first important step by hosting or attending a Change is Coming house meeting. Sign up right now:

http://my.barackobama.com/changeiscoming

To get our country back on track, it will take all of us working together.

Barack and Joe have a clear agenda and an unprecedented opportunity for change. But they can't do it alone.

Will you join us at a house meeting and help plan the next steps for this movement?

Thanks,

David

4. This is EXCELLENT
I'm heartened to hear of their agenda. Keeping the grassroots fired up and talking to Congress PLUS working on 2010 elections now is brilliant.

10. Not just 2010
They were talking 2009. Which means municipal elections...that is the breeding ground for state and federal office...sounds like they are doing what the GOP has been doing for years!

8. Yeah, me too. For once, though, I acknowledged my limitations.
I just hope they got somebody else to do it who isn't too far from here.

11. I got a call today too!
And it turned out that it was our volunteer coordinator in SC during the primary. She is now in Chicago. I was thrilled to talk with her. And she said the same thing....that we can rest assured that the volunteer ground operation will stay in tact! :)
