Will Laura Bush run for the Senate from Texas?
I wouldn't be surprised.

1. Why not? She could take Kay Hutchison's seat in 2010.

7. No, she won't.
She's not interested in that kind of thing; she's never been much of a player. She was a librarian, remember? Hey, that's one comfort -- maybe she'll do cool things for the Dallas public library system.

9. Like stocking it with extra copies of "My Pet Goat" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by chance...
I mean honestly if she wasn't able to convince her own husband to read above a second grade level I have a hard time believing she would do much to improve our libraries.

PRETEND to care about people and do her job.

No way.

10. That is the closest to my opinion of her running for the seat.
She would go nuts having to do something for real and with 99 other Senators.

So, is it worse when Bush doesn't do anything (like in 2008) or when he actually does stuff?

18. Yeah but I don't think she has daddy issues or spousal issue (other than being married to a drunk)
and if she does..they aren't that she has to be better than her daddy or her husband.

If she does nothing, touches nothing, and says nothing for the rest of her life...she's done more for her country than her husband. She's at least not moving it backwards.

17. She has nothing to prove so I doubt she'd run
I think she's content to go back to the Dallas social scene sleep in a seperate bedroom and wait for her daughter to have a kid.

She's never struck me as wanting any kind of political career on her own what so ever and seems content to live in comfort in Dallas with her friends for the rest of her life.

Plus I think she secretly might have voted for Obama.

26. I hope she does. She'll be beaten like a drum.
She makes W sound like a Rhodes Scholar, and the Bush name is a liability now, even in Texas.

I don't see her doing it. She wants to get back to Texas, live separately from W, and be the stuck up bizzatch she's always been, hanging with her SMU friends.

33. I think she will work to promote literacy if anything
She had a hand in the Texas Book festival that showcased Texas authors. But I think she'd just like to crawl under a rock. In Dallas. In an expensive neighborhood. And wait for the grandkids.

start to put quality Dems up in the elections and fight to turn the state blue. There's a new kind of politics in America now. We can't give up valuable leadership positions to place-holders.

We've got to continue to fight for every seat--vunerable or not--across the country.

We cannot afford ever to concede a seat to anyone without credentials or qualifications ever again.

36. Laura likes to enjoy her cocktails and cigarettes at sunset.
I feel she has no interest whatever in going back to Washington to burn the midnight oil unless she's as lazy as her husband.
