11. What the OP is suggesting is that it would have been better to continue the bush legacy
by default with mccain

I guess some folks have decided they'd rather have had McCain making transition decisions/appointments.

18. Really no choice
Once it was down to Obama vs. Hillary, progressives really had no choice but Obama. We didn't have to like voting for him, but I don't regret it.

Robert Gates is a brilliant choice for interim SecDef because Gates is already listening to Obama instead of Bush. This is HUGH! It means Obama can essentially block Bush from fucking up the middle east any worse--unlike the economy.

- I honesty don't care if he picked Hillary as his Secretary of State. I had my own preferences for the job, yes, but if she can get done what needs to get done, I don't care. More power to her.

- I personally think keeping Gates at Defense on a temporary basis, as has been stated, is a good idea. He doesn't need to hit the ground running, he's already running. The man likely knows more about what's currently going on over there than anyone else.

- Eh.

- I never expected otherwise, to be honest.

- Top adviser? I wouldn't call him that. One of a group of advisers? More accurate.

There, all points addressed. And I would still have voted for him, and happily so, if he called Kucinich a whiny little baby and vowed to spend Saturdays spitting on people from Marine One.

Go away, little freeper-pizza monkey...

37. I was going to vote for the Democratic nominee, regardless who it was.
Ony of the Democratic candidates was preferable to any of the Republicans that it was just a matter of whoever got the nomination would get my vote. I don't expect to agree with every decision the PE Obama makes, but that would have been true of any of them.

We all have the same concerns, but I think we should give Obama...

the benefit of the doubt.

He and his team deserve that benefit of the doubt for their brilliant campaign if nothing else

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...
Yes, it's CHANGE indeed

Even a complete return to a Clinton administration will be a HUGE change from the last 8 years. That's how we should look at it. Obama isn't the Washington outsider who was going to fill his cabinet with Washington outsiders and "mavericks" : He is pretty much a Washington INSIDER,just like everyone else in the senate or anyone who has ever had a chance to become president.

Barack Obama will indeed govern like Clinton and with the same people and that's not necessarily a bad thing. He might be more successful tho, because of the majorities he has in both the senate and the House and more importantly because of his more active base.

This is flamebait. While constructive criticism of President-elect Obama is allowed, we are expected to be supportive of putting Democrats in office here.
