Kerry's Battleground Shrinks: The Democratic challenger must capture Fla. or Ohio to stand a real chance against Bush. http://www.washingtonpost.com

As it sits right now all he has to do is maintain his lead in the Gore 2000 states and win in NH and CO, for example. Or just win Missouri! Are they stupid?

Not that I am saying that winning FL or OH is not important...

1. The same thing that has been wrong for years
They're no longer a credible source of political news... they have a very distinct and consistent Republican slant. It's too bad, really to see how far that they've fallen. Time was they were a respectable paper. Not anymore.

4. Actually...
The WP is usually pretty democratic in nature...I think they are just mroe balanced, but many neocons lok at WP as very liberal...now the washington TIMES on the other hand is very conservative.

2. You are absolutely right.
There are multiple scenarios where he wins without Florida or Ohio.
Take a look at the current map at

http://www.electoral-vote.com/index.html

He is holding enough EV's without either. In the current scenario, I think he has all the Gore states plus Colorado. I think he has a good
change of taking Nevada as well due to the Yucca Mountain controversy.

5. Nope
All the Gore states plus NH are not enough this time.

6. You misrepresented the article, it says Ohio OR Florida
You have it correct in the message but not your subject line, which says "and." That's a whopping difference.

Actually, given the mathematical unlikelihood of sweeping all the Gore states when some of them were virtual jump balls, I agree with the Post's assesment. If we try to smallball the electoral college minus Ohio or Florida, Kerry's chances of victory literally plunge, probably at least 3X less likely.
