Let me see if I've got this straight.... Secretary of State..... Condi Rice vs Hillary Clinton
I'm just trying to process the complaining.

Under Bush we had:

Ok, she's definitely smart and a testament to progress in America, blah blah blah blah. She's also been a complete failure as National Security Advisor in the first term and a complete failure as Secretary of State. Her accomplishments as National Security Advisor were to completely ignore the CIA intelligence on Bin Laden "determined to attack America" and Al Qaeda "fly planes into buildings." Thousands of Americans lost their lives. She went on to warn of mushroom clouds if we didn't invade Iraq. For her failures, she was given Secretary of State. As Secretary of State she has failed to negotiate even one single major treaty or help negotiate ONE single crisis. Her specialty was supposed to be Russian studies. Putin just laughed at her.

Then we might have:

Now, I know people want to relive the primaries but come on. We can go from that up there. To this. There is no comparison. I shouldn't even have to defend this. Hillary Clinton walks into a room and people listen. With her serving at the discretion of the President, she would represent a huge change in American policy to the world. We aren't sending some crony over, we're sending the big guns. When we said diplomacy, we meant it. Talk with her.

2. Let's be honest.
A lot of Hillary Clinton's stature comes from being Bill Clinton's wife. Hillary Clinton has done none of the things you mentioned in regard to Rice either. She has neither negotiated any treaties or crises. She's been first lady and a senator.

BUT, she has a massive following. She is a character in the political world that commands respect. With this new role, she will be able to back up her stature with actual major accomplishments, deeds, and possibly become one of the greatest leaders we've had. She will have her own identity outside of that of her husband's. That's what I think she has been trying to do since before she and Bill even got married.

4. I don't agree that Hillary's rise is dependent on her husband, it's completely false
I would love to hear why it was so easy for Hillary to become a two term First Lady, two term United States Senator, and almost get elected to be the first woman President of the US. I absolutely supported Obama in the primaries but I wasn't blinded to the realities of Hillary's greatness.

BTW, I contributed $2000 to Hillary early, and I eventually contributed $4300 to Obama. 1800 to Obama during the late stages of the primary and a $2500 during the general.

5. heh.
my Republican grandfather actually has a book called "Condi vs Hillary", cowritten by....Dick Morris! All about how the 2008 race was going to come down to Condi and Hillary. It was a hilarious and grotesque piece of crap reading, as you can imagine.
