Very interesting...("forgeries" crap)
The September 10 edition of The Note, ABC News Political Unit's online newsletter, pointed out that even before 60 Minutes was over, right-wing websites were claiming that the documents were forgeries and raising detailed questions about the availability of the typeface used in the memos in the early 1970s. As The Note suggested, the speed and technical detail with which these websites attacked the CBS documents raised questions about where these documents originated and whether these websites had been given advance access to them.

At 8:59 ET - before the broadcast is finished - the documents come into question via a poster named Buckhead on the Free Republic Web site:

Of course, the rightwingnuts were totally WRONG about their typefaces etc., but still, it is interesting how they were arguing for forgeries before 60 Minutes was even over.

1. So the docs were released by the WH to FreeRepublic before air time?
Rove probably also sent an instruction booklet.

2. Remember
The WH had those same documents for some time (I think at least several days) before the story finally broke.

So think of it this way:

The WH knew that the documents WEREN'T forged and they would unleash a S**tstorm when released.....soooooo....release the docs with a "suggestion" that they might be forged and let it rip on the web.

Mission Accomplished.

From here on out, the rabid RW base will believe the documents TRULY are forgeries no matter how many experts claim the contrary.

Case study? CNN Newsnight with Asron Brown Brown said that the story wasn't what was IN the documents, but the authenticity of the docs themselves. The entire segment was given to analysis by CNNs own forensic expert (inconclusive btw)

3. and a little strange
is that Bush himself knows if they are forgeries or not, yet he hasn't denounced them as forgeries.

He let's other do the denunciation. Why?

Under ANY circumstances Bush knows whether they are authentic!! and he hasn't addressed the issues at all. He only denied that he received special treatment to get INTO the guard!

One of the memos is a CYA concerning a conversation the Commanding Officer had with Bush himself.....why doesn't some enterprising reporter ask Bush about that conversation?

5. Buckhead - Atlanta suburb
perhaps CNN had advance knowledge of the content of the CBS report?

7. Still - we were live that night with the TV and FR
it seemed to evolve naturally enough.

All I can say is what an incredibly gripping battle of psychology it's become.

This is illustrative to the natural battle of cosmologies, each side devising and believing what they want to believe.

This whitehouse is just saying, "damn the inconsistencies, full speed ahead with the lies."
