Hillary may be in the Cabinet, but not as SOS
Per CNN: "Sources say Clinton met to discuss a potential role in the administration, but was surprised at State Department rumors."

I don't believe that Hillary's main interest lies in the State Dept. She has for years been passionate about health care and that's where I believe her ambitions lie. Perhaps Obama is contemplating some new position as Health Care Czar, or something of that nature. Just a guess, but it seems far more probable to me.

1. Health Czar is a traditionally female appointment going back to Oveta Culp Hobby. No. nt

3. So? Are you saying for that reason she shouldn't get a position she may want most?

7. Health care is her passion, isn't it? Why would you make the comment you made anyway? What

does it have to do with anything that it's a traditionally female role? And I said she MAY want that position the most.

2. Agreed.
I would be surprised if she is offered and takes the SoS position. Like you, I think she will be offered a different cabinet position.

11. I don't see Hillary (and I'm a supporter) as a constitutional scholar.
Or the judicial type, for that matter.

12. Often, the best justices have been politicians
People like Hugo Black and Earl Warren had no experience in the judiciary when they were selected -- they were the senator from Alabama and the governor of California, respectively. But they both wound up being among the greatest justices in Supreme Court history.

The reason is that politicians often have better practical skills then justices whose career has been spent on the bench or in the court room. The politicians often have a better pulse of public opinion and are more in touch with the real world. They're typically less ideological and more persuasive than many of their peers.

I think Hillary would be a great supreme court Justice. I doubt, on the other hand, she'd accept it. The only Supreme Court position I think she'd be interested in would be Chief Justice, but that's taken.

OTOH, I think Hillary would make an excellent Secretary of Defense.

6. What's the big worry about the 60 senator majority then? If
Senators are accepting places in Obama's cabinet, how could there ever have been a 60 vote majority?

14. LOL! CNN is just loaded with good information!
CNN is reporting that sources close to President-elect Barack Obama's transition team say New York Senator Hillary Clinton is one of several candidates being considered for secretary of state.

However, a source close to Clinton told NY1 Thursday that

"the senator has yet to be contacted"

about that, or any other cabinet position.
