To understand what Obama's doing, read "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln"
Edited on Fri Nov-14-08 12:49 PM by Lex

Understanding what he's doing with political appointments and Cabinet appointments, that is.

"Team of Rivals doesn't just tell the story of Abraham Lincoln. It is a multiple biography of the entire team of personal and political competitors that he put together to lead the country through its greatest crisis. Here, Doris Kearns Goodwin profiles five of the key players in her book, four of whom contended for the 1860 Republican presidential nomination and all of whom later worked together in Lincoln's cabinet."

2. That book is great.
Another one you might wanna check out to understand what types of policies Obama may gravitate to or shy away from would be FDR By: Jean Edward Smith.

Great book.

4. The Obama team has said, no cabinet positions until after Thanksgiving.
Anything up until then is speculation and rumor.

7. Maybe
it was brought to his attention during the recent briefings that our Country is really, I mean really jacked up. And he needs to surround himself with a little experience.

8. He would surround himself with experienced & competent persons anyway.
Some might even be his former "rivals."
