My Fear--Neocons and Hawks
In all the feel-good aftermath of the election and the shock of the economic situation, we might forget about the Middle East mess. But the conflict goes on, and our blood and treasure are still shed there.
Meanwhile, even though the neocons have been dealt a blow, they will follow the power. They will pop up again to "restructure" the Middle East, using American money and blood to do it.
All of the hawks are not Republicans. I'm not sure about Rahm Emanuel, but I hope that he can be controlled. I am sure about Joe Lieberman. Why are prominent Democrats defending his position?
So we have to be vigilant. Many of us supported Barack Obama because we believed that he represented a more measured response to conflict.
It's not over.
