I can't cook and carry on a conversation. If I talk, I tend to forget ingredients. I certainly wouldn't do it in high heels and a suit. Sorry, but I don't consider this to be a mastery of multi-tasking.

She is the perfect disguise. She is a powerful icon. How does one address a walking, talking, living, breathing lie? In substance her persona is completely impotent, delivering the PR message designed by her corporatist puppet masters. She is an animated programed Potemkin village for a party that promotes a foreign policy based upon brutal force, inequity, racism, and class warfare.

Sarah: Oh nope! I wanna have my interview in the kitchen where I'll chop vegetables and put on hand lotion and stuff. I wanna look like a hockey mom and make it look like I can multi-task. I'll answer questions like the gal I am and chop onions to make me cry when we talk about Ronald Reagan.
Greta: Wow. OK. So...
Piper: Mom is making some moose and cheese stuff.

My parents started a Gourmet club back in the late sixties, just about the time Julia was becoming an institution. One couple that joined the club were the Cousins. Dorothy Cousins was Julia's sister who was not only a dead ringer for looks, she was just as tall.
I never met Julia in real life, but I did walk past her house in Cambridge. My BIL was giving me the nickel tour that also included a walk-by of the famous law office of "Dewey, Cheetham & Howe", just off the square.
Mother-in-law did meet Julia at Radcliffe, in the restroom! She told me the story more than once, and always smiles when she did. She was freshening up at a sink when a daunting figure stepped up to the next sink. She glanced over, then looked up, then up some more. Julia was a speaker at the event, and mom recognized her, but she didn't realize how big she was in real life. Yes, Julia could wield a meat cleaver like no one else!

She worked in the Far East, which is where she met her husband, Paul, the love of her life. There were actually quite a few women of that era who worked for the OSS and all were quite amazing. Check out "Sisterhood of Spies" by Elizabeth McIntosh for starters. McIntosh was one of them. http://www.amazon.com/Sisterhood-Spies-Elizabeth-Mcinto... One of the women described in the book is actually a family friend who is now in her (still!) very active 80s.

She looked very rigid and very out of place, to me, in the kitchen setting.
I watched portions of the Greta interview, and Palin was having a very hard time trying to answer questions AND try to stuff sausage, etc. Someone who was comfortable in the kitchen and used to doing what she was pretending to do, wouldn't be so stiff and unnatural.
Come on, Sarah, who ya tryin' to fool here?

Why are Republicans allowed to engage in this theater and get away with it.
What if Hillary had done an interview in her kitchen while whipping up a batch of burgers for Bill and Chelsea?
What is Barack had done an interview while playing basketball with his daughters.
They would have been ridiculed for days. But the media enables these displays by republicans.
