Why I don't buy Obama is One and Done.

A lot of people like to compare it to Jimmy Carter, but you can't. Carter's only term is very similar to Bush's second. What got Carter into the White House was not domestic fears aimed toward the economy, rather the corruption of the last administration.

Obama was swept into office because of fears of the economy. The bottom fell out, there is nowhere to go but up from here. I think we can all agree the economy is likely to improve next year over where it is today. That means, even if there are marginal gains, compared to where we were the past four years, Obama will be sitting pretty. The same thing happened with Reagan in 1980. He was allowed to create the perception the economy was on the uptick and it gave him a landslide victory in 1984. When the economy slowly begins to rebound, coupled with Obama's optimistic rhetoric, Americans will feel safer and better off than they currently are today.

Because of this, Obama is set up perfectly and will be able to ride that wave into a second term.
