Breaking: Patti Solis Doyle Being Tapped For Cabinet Secretary.
Obama's team courting former Hillary Clinton aide

By BETH FOUHY – 5 hours ago

NEW YORK (AP) — Democratic officials say President-elect Obama's transition aides have approached Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's former campaign manager about taking a senior White House post.

These officials say Patti Solis Doyle is considering taking the job, although she worries about the effect it would have on her two young children. She was contacted about possibly becoming Cabinet secretary, a job that involves coordinating the efforts of the White House and cabinet-level agencies.

The officials who described the developments did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to disclose them.

Doyle has worked for Clinton in a number of capacities, first in the White House and most recently when she made her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

4. Uh, if you're able to read past the first paragraph you should go ahead and do that.
Becasue, ya know...there's more than one paragraph in the article.

6. The soap opera person?
Wasn't there some rather eyebrow raising drama about her (am I thinking of somebody else?)

7. She was accused of that.
According to the Newsweek book online, she was answering e-mails until the early morning hours.

14. Soaps aren't on in the early morning hours, are they?
I'm always amused by the way kernels of truth can be found in political jabs...

Best as I can figure, she's a soap fan, she did some mixing of personal and professional time on the trail, and a story was made out of it.... I found an old DU thread on the brouhaha:

8. Well, she was in Obama's campaign and there wasn't a problem.
I guess he was able to tame her. I guess that's what we call leadership. She chilled out, once she joined him.

15. Great! Obama would have some continuity from the Clinton WH, w/o becoming a 3rd
term for Big Dawg.

Sounds as though she'd be the go-to person for making sure things planned at Cabinet meetings actually happen.
