Just wondering: What did Obama say to Lieberman during their *ahem* discussion
the day after Obama clinched the Democratic nomination? Did he or Lieberman ever publicly discuss it? Were there ever any news reports about it other then the visible confrontation? I assumed that we'd eventually hear SOMETHING about albeit probably not during the GE campaign. Anybody know anything about it?

Oh, to be a fly on the wall during THAT conversation...................

1. Probably went something like this...
Lieberman: Well Barack, I...

Obama: *SLAP!*

8. Wow! Obama looks pretty exasperated.
I'm guessing Lieberman was trying to explain his treachery in backing McCain over him and Obama just wasn't playing. I can't believe that we actually nominated him to be Gore's VP back in 2000. Geez!!! What a snake in the grass.

Of course, since Obama BACKED Lieberman in 2006 when he went "independent", I guess I'd be pretty mad too that he decided not to return the favor. In fact, it's not really so much that Lieberman endorsed McCain for POTUS that bothers me so much as the fact that he became very publicly involved in trashing Obama, particularly by speaking at the RNC like Zell Miller (what the hell happened to him?) did in 2004 against John Kerry.

Frankly, I don't understand how or why he thinks that Reid et. al are disposed to be gracious about him and want him to keep all of his "perks" after he very publicly supported McCain/Palin and seemed to be joined at the hip with McCain during the entire campaign. Heck, Lieberman would've probably accepted nomination as VP if it had been offered (as McCain had probably wanted personally).

9. I think Obama supported him until he went independent.
Then Obama, like all other Democrats supported the Democratic nominee for the Senate. That's when lieberman made the claim they were all betraying him.

11. Those of us in CT who supported Lamont were fucking pissed.
The sheer hubris of a man who thought that he'd still gain support of the Democratic party after LOSING his party's nomination made many of us sick! He's absolutely delusional. Unfortunately, a lot of people in CT (though smaller percentage of them actual Democrats) re-elected the traitor.

14. I was bummed out when I heard that Lamont lost as well
It is as though he feels he is "owed" his Senate seat. Before him I'd never heard of somebody losing their party's primary and then turning around and STILL running anyway albeit under a different banner. Wierd.

15. Can you guys recall him?
What are the laws supporting that? Assuming his approval ratings can justify such an action?

18. From what I've heard, if and that's a big IF
that were to happen, our governor (who's a Republican) would appoint a successor. Kind of a no win situation and we have four more years of this guy. CT is not a place that likes change in it's own leaders (obviously :eyes:) but maybe if we got a Democratic governor in two years, but still... it's a longshot.

10. You know, I was just thinking...
...had Gore not been screwed out of the Presidency and been elected to a second term, we would have most likely had Holy Joe as our nominee this year instead of Obama. Gee, I wonder how THAT would have turned out.

12. YIKES!!!!!
Best not to ruminate on that one too much. I just feel damned thankful that we have Obama/Biden soon to assume the WH and Joe is, hopefully, soon to be stripped of any real relevance unless he eats some REAL "crow" and very publicly apologizes to Obama and the Democratic Party for the *ahem* "unhelpful" role he played during this past election.

17. Hmmm
Maybe wishful thinking to think that Lieberman would have stayed true to form and backstabbed Gore somehow. Gore would have been forced to find a new VP and drop him from the ticket for his second run . Who knows? It would have been wishful thinking on my part because I thought that the Lieberman pick was a HUGE mistake on Gore's part.

that was the scuttlebutt afterward, anyway
