7. I do. I am sure the fanboys/girls want nothing but affirmation
and advocacy but I care what critics from the left have to say because i probably agree with them. I just don't have the need to bring it to DU at this time. :hi:

and completely give up on the idea that progressive change can come through the democratic party...progressives must stay united in the cause.
so long as the political scene is corporate dominated, we must use the best means to push ideas... and because we live in this two party system, the democratic party is most suitable and most capable of that change. because of its national stature, it is the best means in which to get agenda accomplished ...

nobody said itd be easy.
by all means tho, participate with many many others in many many causes ... just remember to come home and bring those ideas and that passion with you.

28. I've voted as a Yellow Dog Democrat for years. But we do need more progressive
Democratic ideas to be pushed more heavily. Perhaps the young people Obama brought on board will join us in pushing for universal health care first. I'd expect them to understand the economic logic of removing the burden of health insurance payments from US business and consumers, and be ready to push for it.

Maybe if I'd voted Nader the first time or the second time, when Gore was safe in my state, using the trade off thing, we'd have a stronger Green party to push the progressive agenda. But even then, I was too afraid of what I knew about Dick Cheney to even dare not voting for the Democratic ticket.

19. Exactly, and those who would
Trash him at this incredibly difficult time need a kick in the ass.

Fact: Barack Obama won an EC landslide of 365 EC votes.

Fact: Barack Obama beat McNut in the Popular Vote by more than 8 million votes.

Those morons at Counterpunch etc need to STFU, NOBODY is listening to them anyway, hardly anyone has ever listened to the pathetic cretins.

29. I'm sorry, but I disagree.
Criticism from the left is always welcome. We will be in a fight for the soul of the party, and I think its soul is on the left, not on Wall Street or K Street.

And why does Counterpunch need to STFU, as you so eloquently put it, if no one is listening anyway, as you claim?

Are you the voice of the Democratic Party. If so, it looks pretty ugly and intolerant, not to mention intemperate.

31. Criticism is healthy, criticism is to be supported, when it's deserved
IE: If something occurs that people disagree with, then of course ANY politician should welcome criticism, we are afterall not Obamabots, so criticism is healthy.

What I don't support is TRASHING, and Counterpunch doesn't offer critique, they have a consistent record of trashing Democrats, they are a rag, they offer gutter journalism of the worst kind.

Counterpunch are not friends of Democrats nor of the Democratic Party.

Edited on Sat Nov-08-08 03:09 PM by Mr_Jefferson_24
...about the Democratic Party is more in line with the words of Doris "Granny D" Haddock:

"Part of the problem of the progressive left is that we have fragmented into dozens of organizations, each of which must struggle for funds and email addresses and all the rest. We need to fold ourselves back into the Democratic Party and thoroughly invigorate it. Do not worry that we will cause the Party to marginalize itself. If the Party can base its actions on good science, effective governance, and efficient delivery of the programs the people need, it will prosper across all the left and all the middle of the American political spectrum. But by splitting ourselves off into all these good government organizations we have left the party to the selfish elites, and they don't know how to serve the people or the truth, and that means they do not know how to win."

27. I like this Doris "Granny D" Haddock. She is right but Nader is too angry, too temperamental to
... bring her message to the Democrats. No one will listen to him until he learns the calm, cool, and collected composure of someone like Obama. See how temper hurt Pres. Clinton?

The old adage "You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar" applies in getting any message out, as Pres.-elect Obama has clearly demonstrated.

13. Counterpunch is owned and run by deeply suspect people who
Hate Democrats and the Democratic Party, I never saw a Democrat that Counterpunch didn't trash.

Counterpunch is also prone to anti-Semitism, Alexander Cockburn is anti-Semitic, he is also a Conspiracy Theory oddball.

Counterpunch has as much credibilty as Drudge and Rense do, the only thing all of them are worthy of is to be used as birdcage liner.

hmmm....i know Nader's left field, but surely his bluntness helps Barack (the left is too darn quiet, doesn't anyone agree?) by countering all this 'non partisan' crap we're hearing. There are alot of vicious criminals in the gop/rightwing who need '5 in the noggin' as JohnGibson once kindly suggested....:)
