Boss says in company meeting today
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 12:12 PM by rniel
Democrats won with a strategy of getting more urban folks to vote. And most of these urban folks are welfare recipients looking for more government handouts so they elected their president to give them that. And not it's just going to be us old white rural folks supporting the republicans from now on and we won't be around for much longer.

What's really wierd is this guy seems fairly intelligent but has such a skewed view on politics. I did notice he has 2 ann coulter books up on his bookshelf in his office. I need to find a new job. Now.

I got noone to vent to about this so thought I'd vent to DU.

32. Look at Alaska up near the top. Remember Alaska's get $3200 this year from the state government
thy don't pay sales tax or state income tax in Alaska. They tax oil for revenue then the feds give them MORE welfare.

YOUR tax dollars at work paying welfare to Alaskans.

7. send an anonymous note --"so you don't want any Obama supporters as customers?"
"Because if it ever gets out how you slander them with lies about being lazy and welfare I know that none would ever want to buy anything from you again"

I guarantee that you will never hear another word like that again.

11. Overheard at my optometrist in the glasses selection area:
"My neighbor came over and said now I don't have to worry about losing my house, since we will all live in a welfare state now that Obama will be president...yuck yuck yuck, har har har"

This said by a woman to an employee helping her, she yucked it up big time. Meanwhile, myself and a twenty something African American female employee who was assisting me with my choice of frames were standing 3 feet away. We stared at her with open mouths, she remained oblivious to her obvious bigotry.

Sad sad sad...and that is not the WORST thing I have heard in the last 48 hours.

Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 12:25 PM by rniel
Me, my father, my grandfather, and my wife and all of her family none of them have been rich, all of them have worked very hard all their lives and they all voted for obama. Not one of them ever asked for a handout and not one of them are lazy. These republicans want to say "class warfare" over and over are the one who started the war in the first place.

Of course I didn't say anything just say their silently.

13. I worked with misguided Republicans that I got along with great
until it came to politics. One of them and I had very thoughtful and respectful talks with each other, which ,as you know, is almost impossible.

We agreed to start a little book club where we would each read one book of the other's choice and we agreed to stay away from the inflammatory stuff and try to stick to fact-based books as much as possible. Sounds great, but we never actually did it.

My first choice for him was going to be Palast's The Best Democracy Money Can Buy and I forget what his first choice was - some Republican Business book, but I can't remember which one.

16. Frankly, this is what I felt McCain's speech was leading to...
.. he gave his followers the notion that this victory happened for Obama only because of the black voters. It was crystal clear what he meant, and of course, the right wing is already running with it.

How the hell did that come up in the convo at a business meeting?

And yeah... if your bosses have that sort of thinking... you might be better off trying to find a new job. But I think right now, jobs are looking to be scarce... :(

24. I'm rural, too.
So are 90% of my family and we all voted for Obama. All of us are working and perfectly self-sufficient. We also happen to believe that a society has a moral responsibility to care for their needy. It's hard to believe so many people are truly so selfish to think otherwise. I have to assume that they're just buying into the propaganda from Rush and his ilk.

Oil import industry

OR... Venture Capital Banking

OR Health Insurance Sales

OR Stock Brokerage

Any boss who brings Ann Coulter books to work and puts them conspicuously in his office is sexually frustrated, ignorant, sexist, racist, and a general ASSHOLE. Get out while the getting is good. Personally I couldn't stand working for that kind of person.

37. Say: I thought you told us it is unpatriotic to not support the president
you might not like the man but you have to show respect for the office

then say I hope you don't let Ann Coulter make up your mind for you on other issues in your life

Tell him you hope he judges Obama on his actions not what Rush says about him.

Tell him welfare takes less than 2% of the federal budget (much less of any state's budget) that you only get welfare if you have kids and there is an absolute 5 year limit (most states have less than 5 years) to getting welfare. That won't change btw.

Oh, but find a job first. And tell the head of the company why you are leaving when you do and write a letter to the editor of the paper and tell them why you left. Not that you're a dem but that you were harassed for you politics by a red neck know nothing.
