So, friends - we've now had about 24 hours to let this sink in. A question:
Allowing for the fact that some of us are very tired, or hung over, or a little burned out, or emotionally fraught...

Share a sentence that describes how you feel right now.

Here's mine:

Throughout the day the magnitude of this event ebbed and flowed as I struggled with all of the raw emotions; but tonight, while watching PBS News Hour, the tears came and some words I never could have imagined coming to mind - unity, grace, optimism, energy, and - yes, hope - are all running around in my brain, causing great excitement in me for the future.

1. I still can't quite believe it.
I'm almost let down a bit--after the initial huge-ass grinning, I haven't felt any real rushes of emotion. I think my inner self has waited too long for this to be truly surprised or exhausted or anything else about it. It feels right, a part of me already--in a way, it feels like he's been president all this time since he clinched the nomination. This just makes it more official. All knows he's had hearts and minds far more than Bush or McCan't have these past several months.

3. Euphoric. Relief that I will not continue to be filled with horror at the next thing...
the administration does (to me or the country or the environment or another country or to our country's reputation or to our country's economy or to our jobs or....you name it).

The horror is over. I don't expect miracles. I view the country as a huge ship that has now begun turning in a huge circle to go in the opposite direction. It takes awhile to turn around a ship in dangerous waters.

Euphoric that we have a President who will never utter words like, "Our children's is learnin'"

Euphoric that for the first time ever I am enthralled by a political leader in our country.

I can exhale. Finally. I am sooooo happy.

4. I am praying for President-elect Obama.
I am hoping our future President's Higher Power keeps a good watch on him, as I am sure he, like the rest of us, are realizing the enormity of the task at hand as the rush of his election slowly (but very very slowly!) wears off.

5. Back eight years ago......
(that would be the notorious 2000 election mess) when the Supreme Court made their decision, I remember thinking that a seed had been planted it those of us outraged by the Court's actions, even though at the time everyone seemed resigned to it. I still believed that down the line the Republicans would pay big for flaunting their disrespect for the election process. Then 9/11 and Iraq came along to confuse and distract people. But last night I remembered that feeling, and thought, "Finally."

6. I really wish the RW media wasn't so ubiquitous so I could believe
Obama would be given a real honeymoon to get things working. But they are already doing all they can to poison the air and sink his ship.
But then I think of the campaign and he beat their bullshit then and he'll do it again.
Oh and it really hasn't sunk in BUT FOR THIS-
THIS IS A FIRST FAMILY THAT WILL MAKE US PROUD!

9. Absolutely...and I expect all of our thoughts will morph and expand, so we can eventually
appreciate it. We can only scratch the surface right now!

8. Dedicated to making civil rights important again.
That's the big dull spot on this whole thing. Well, that and my primary candidate being a bust.

11. Relieved mingled with caution
The right wing is down but not out and the "corporate media whores" seem to ALREADY be signaling that they intend to "watch" Obama and make sure he doesn't do anything too "radical". After we take a brief rest, we need to start working again to do what we can to help Obama and our Congresscritters be successful.

12. All of that but with trepidation of the possibilty that the erosion of the Constitution,
Bill of Rights, reconciliation of recent events with the truth will all be abandoned for touchy feely we're in charge feelings.
