Elizabeth Hasselbeck delivers her concession speech
with video at the link...

http://defamer.com/5077356/elisabeth-hasselbeck-delivers-her-concession-speech

If there's been anything more contentious and exhausting than the battle to become the nation's next president, it has been The View's high-octane coverage of the election. Emotions still ran high on today's show, as an overcome Sherri Shepherd cried on camera about the impact of Barack Obama's victory. Before that, though, Barbara Walters turned to Elisabeth Hasselbeck and rightly noted, "All eyes are gonna be on you."

Hasselbeck, dressed in a funereal black top (with a pirate-reminiscent ruffled collar!), took her cues from John McCain's gracious concession speech and delivered one of her own. "No one lost today," she said. "God knows I fought hard for the other side, but today is a victory for this country." Then, reaching deep inside, she even gave hated rival Joy Behar a fist-bump. Godless America, we have succeeded: Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a terrorist now. One of us. One of us.

...unconditionally.

ETA: So when her young daughter asked her this morning, "If Obama won, who lost?"...Elizabeth said, "No one lost."

If that's true, that was classy.

3. That was really cool. I'm hoping that most of the rest of the extreme
rwers, including the ones in every neighborhood, also find those feelings. I'm hoping President Obama is gifted enough to affect everyone like that, as he began in his speech last night. There has never been an election like this. America grew up quite a bit yesterday.

6. I know exactly what you mean, but you should check out the vid.
It may have been manipulative malarkey, but she said some pretty touching things about this election and her daughter.

15. It's hard to get beyond my dislike for her
but I did watch the vid and will admit that her statements seemed sincere and were entirely appropriate.

5. She had no choice but to concede and sound humbled.
If she would have done otherwise, she would have to kiss her career goodbye. I wonder what she and Sean Hannity will talk about when he calls her every morning to give her the talking points of the day. Bitch.

8. The only way it could have been better is if she'd also "conceded" her spot on the show.

9. She was aggressively ugly during the election, so her response today was quite unexpected.

11. It was...it was very gracious, and it seems to make her shrill....
arguments about his "associations" null and void.

If she felt THAT strongly that he was a danger, she couldn't turn on a dime like that.

It shows it was just part of negative campaigning.

12. I'm torn. So what was all that Rev Wright stuff, and Ayers? Did you honestly believe O is anti-Ameri
anti-American?

If not, why did you say all those things. If so, how can you be happy for the country now?

My confusion aside, this is a very good thing for America that conservatives are speaking in this new way today. A very very good thing.

19. I hate it when assholes start playing nice
Be consistent, dammit. It's not fair. I don't want to have to acknowledge their magnanimity. My grudge needs nursing! I don't want to let go of it. I was thinking of naming it, maybe getting it a chew toy.
