There was a man who came in around 6:00 p.m. to vote. He told the election clerks he was a convicted felon and asked if he could vote. When they couldn't find his name on the rolls, they sent him to the clerk who was looking up people on a laptop. That clerk told the man he couldn't vote if he was a felon. Apparently the clerks did not know that a convicted felon who completes his sentence in Texas gets his voting rights restored, but I did, and I spoke up. The gentleman's name WAS in the database, and he was allowed to vote. I heard him telling the clerk as he deposited his ballot in the optical scanner that he had been working on changing his life and that he "hoped that his guy won tonight!" He made it clear that Obama was his guy, and even though we're not supposed to electioneer in the polls, he said it as he was leaving and no one complained.
Here's to you, sir! :toast:
