4. Well...
Unfortunately, the last AZ Rep poll was not looking very good. IIRC, it was 36% Kerry, 50% Bush and 14% undecided or something around there... I'm sure Kerry will gain some ground between now and Nov 2nd, but (honestly, and sadly) I don't think he can pull it off in AZ.

10. The fat lady hasn't even warmed up yet.
Relax, the polls don't mean a whole lot. Especially with the thousand dead, and the new incriminating Guard info.

5. AZ repubs are moderate?
Not sure where you're living, but there are lots of Kool-Aid drinkers here.

8. i'm a masshoLe
and we have pLenty of kooL-aid drinkers here.

the reason i'm caLLing it for kerry - a whiLe back (1-2 months maybe) there was a bLurb in a novak coLumn about mccain meeting w/ arizona repubs to prepare them for possibLe Losses. their money raising was on a huge decLine - supposedLy because AZ's "moderates" were tired of bush' sociaL conservatism; mainLy on stem ceLLs.

it may not happen, but i thought that bLurb was great news.

11. I hope you're right.
I think the other thing that will help Kerry here is the Native American vote. They have a tribal election on November 2nd. They had a gaming initiative on the ballot during our last gubernatorial election, which helped elect our current gov. Hopefully they can make a difference again.

7. A politician like McCain is money in the bank. (Ok, well, not "money in
the S&L.")

If all states had a guy like that headlining their state parties, Dems would be in trouble.

And, you know what, Kerry has to embrace McCain to get moderate votes throughout the rest of the country, which is screwing up things for Dems in AZ. They're the sacrificial lambs so that Dems can win the presidential race.

9. Why sacrificial lambs? McCain is very popular, and will win for sure.
I would think if Kerry is McCain's friend, it helps win votes from people who aren't pleased with Shrub!

12. Because it means Democrats in AZ will think Kerry is saying it's OK to
vote for McCain, which makes it harder for Dems to win in AZ. I'm saying the AZ Dem Party is the sacrificial lamb so that Kerry can get moderate votes across the country.
