My vote in Pittsburgh: 1 hour, electronic voting, WARM WEATHER, HUGE TURNOUT
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 03:59 PM by nomorewhopper
Voted in Pittsburgh at around 7:30 am in a church in my neighborhood of downtown Pittsburgh.

The line was way out the door of the church and would around the courtyard of the church. It took about 1 hour in line total to vote. luckily for us it's an unseasonably warm day here in PA. Last week it was SNOWING, today it's like 65 and gorgeous.

I voted for the first time in my life on the electronic system. I personally didn't like it. They had a person explain how to use the machine to every single person in line. When you are done selecting your candidates, a red light flashes "VOTE" and you press it to confirm your vote. Honestly it's confusing.

All's well though and I got a receipt for voting, although it's a "pre vote" receipt (ie it doesn't have any record of "who" i voted for)

the warmth of this day is going to help us greatly. turnout will be huge. i'm from out of state with a massachusetts license and had no problems voting.

1. I'm spoiled living in McKeesport (15 miles from Pittsburgh)
5 minutes to vote this morning. No line. But my polling place has always been like that. We've used these machines since at least last year so I didn't have a problem. I do remember the first time the red light was confusing. I do want them though to get ones that print a paper receipt both for the voter and record in case of recount.
