How consumed by bigotry, ignorance, and hate must one be to actually cast a vote making it illegal
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 03:47 PM by 11 Bravo
for a loving couple to express that love? And yet, tens of thousands of Californians will vote to do exactly that today. And yeah, I take it fucking personally. You see, my younger brother and his partner, currently legally married and residing in California, are two of the finest men I know. My brother is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a former fighter pilot who has served his country in war and in peace. He and his partner have been together for over 25 years, in sickness and in health, through the deaths of friends and family members, and exemplify what a loving couple should be. They have stayed with us on many occasions, and my marriage has never been threatened and my two sons love and respect their uncles. But today a group of narrow-minded shitstains in California will vote to tell them that they don't have the right to express their love and commitment. Making it worse, for me at least, is that many of those people will invoke Christianity as the reason behind their vote. Well, I'm a Christian, and I would like to say to those people, FUCK OFF! You wouldn't know my brother or his partner if you tripped over them. They have never done anything to harm you. And yet you want to strip them of the thing they value most?
I abhor you and everything you stand for, (and I have a sneaking suspicion that when you meet your maker, you're going to find out that he agrees with me.)

CALIFORNIANS, VOTE NO ON PROP 8!

16. Hugs to you and Dwaine.
I talked to my brother a few minutes ago. He says it's early, but too close to call. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

12. it's sickening
heterosexuals who've know each other for five minutes can get married, but my friends who have been together for 20 years could not...until recently.
i voted NO on 8 and so are the majority of Californians :hi:

13. My best friend and her partner live in Florida
And are engaged to be married (they are raising a son together, who I must say, is the greatest kid in the entire universe and I'm pretty sure he might grow up to be a superhero. Sure, he's only 1 1/2 years old, but I just got this feeling.) And are facing the possibility of even having the chance of a civil union stripped away. It's infuriating and anyone who would vote Yes on this disgusting, hateful proposition deserves all the scorn and distaste heaped on them-although I'm sure they'd just pull out the old persecution card.

If It doesn't pass, which I pray it will not, remind me to laugh my ass off at all the Mormons who wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars-some even wiping out there life savings-on the hate filled propaganda they've been spewing on all the media outlets. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

17. And how cynical and evil do you have to be to put it on your state's ballot...
...just to prop up other failed ideology?
