Am I the only one feeling something strangly spiritual today?
Could this really be happening? Yes it is.

I will never forget this day for the rest of my life.

3. after so much high anxiety, I now feel
a beatific calm coming over me. Can't believe I feel this way after so much fearful paranoia which has overcome me so often during this campaign.

Bought some stars and stripes helium balloons to affix to my yard sign when it is truly certain - to add to my flags surrounding my sign and to REALLY piss off my McCain neighborhood.

We shall see how long they last.

4. If you call a churning stomach, nerves on end, and inability to concentrate "spiritual", then yeah..

I'm feeling spiritual.

Actual....I'm petrified.

5. I got to tell you, I got choked up watching Obama and his family
vote today. As they were leaving, spontaneous applause broke out, just a little bit, but that's when I choked up. I not sure why...because I never thought I'd see a black person elected president, or just that I felt this man will inspire the nation just like JFK did in the 60's and then RFK. I hope God goes with him and protects him and his family.

Just a note: There was hate from the other side in the 60's too. It was Catholic hating. Almost as bad as now. And it extended right up until JFK was assassinated. There were people who rejoiced when he was killed. Please realize, this hate will not stop when Obama gets elected. In fact it will probably intensify. These haters are narrow minded, venomous and dangerous. Their roots go back generations.

6. You're certainly NOT alone!
I'll remember tonight for as long as I live.

My wife and I will also make sure that our 8 year old son knows how important today is.

This will be the ONLY DAY IN AMERICAN HISTORY that a black man will be elected President of the United States for the very first time.

At 53, I have some 30+ years and 7 to 10 presidential elections left. I still hope to see a woman elected (but not the dimwit from Alaska).

PEACE (and VICTORY)!

7. Me, too!
I was driving to school today to have lunch with my 8 year old daughter, and Paul Simon's song came on the radio:

And if I was president (was the president)
The minute congress call my name (was the president)
Id say who do,
Who do you think youre fooling? (who do you think youre fooling)

Ive got the presidential seal (was the president)
Im up on the presidential podium
My mama loves me
She loves me
She get down on her knees and hug me
Like she loves me like a rock
She rocks me like the rock of ages

Sure seemed perfect for the moment! I know both Barack's mama and his grandma are beaming down with pride!

8. I spontaneously broke into "We Shall Overcome," today.
And the radio was playing "Turn, Turn, Turn." How sweet.

morning playing a lottery game. He feels like today is our lucky day. I agree, but it is mostly due to hard work being rewarded.

13. i walked outside
as i do many times a day, taking a break from the office chaos. as i looked up and down the tree lined street, the leaves seemed brighter today, in their many colors, the sky was clearer, the air was cleaner, i breathed it in and smiled. it was like looking at a new world, or looking at the old world anew, with hope, with knowledge that the 8 year nightmare is over.

14. It's a feeling I can't describe.
I haven't been able to join in at D.U. today, just too much to comprehend and too much to say- I'm just trying to breath it all in and enjoy it. I mean oh my god, just wow.

when I think of the last 8 years and then to have it come to a close like THIS - I couldn't ask for a better ending to the george bush nightmare.

But then... THIS is just the beginning...

15. I'm feeling it too. Everything looks different, feels different.
The people I saw at the polls today - some of them - our eyes met and it was if we KNEW what was about to happen. I have never felt this way about anything outside of close personal events.

20. People are happy today, everywhere I've gone. At the voting
location, I was in line behind about 5 people and in front of another 5 or 6. We all spontaneously began talking to each other. That's never happened before when I've voted. Usually I see a neighbor or two, but this was conversation among people who didn't know each other previously.

About an hour later I went to the supermarket and everyone was smiling at each other and random conversations about silly things (like the items on sale) would start. At the checkout line, strangers were chatting and laughing.

Then I took my dog to her favorite dog park for some exercise. I saw several people that I know casually and they all mentioned how excited they were about today.

There is definitely something positive and beautiful in the air today.
