4. I'm on a college campus and the atmosphere is electric.
Lots of Obama T-Shirts, buttons on backpacks, signs at the student union.

People are EXCITED. The youth will show up today and silence the doubters.

They have an awful lot riding on this election. This is not the one to be passive about. It's their country and the future of this country in in their hands.

10. I saw them with my own eyes today like I've never seen before.
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 12:59 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
I was talking about this to my husband a few days ago ans was remembering 4 years ago how much play was given to the youth vote - Vote or Die, etc. and how it wasn't as big a deal as people hoped. But then I thought, well once again, people were just given the same choice of which older white guy to vote for and if someone has been apolitical up to that point, it probably doesn't generate the excitement one would wish for.

BUT THIS TIME, this vote is historic and seismic in ways that are indescribable and I think that younger people feel that they do have it in their power to change the world and our nation in a meaningful and positive manner.

All of a sudden, it's that sixties vibe again of real hope and optimism. "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" was NOT a cynical ad, it was how people actually felt back then. And today.

26. Somewhat: I think they'll turn out better than they did for Kerry but
they still will underperform expectations.

I would love to be wrong, however. If I am, I will happily apologize.
