McCain Base in Complete Collapse as Crowds Dwindle
This morning in Florida, the McCain campaign planned for 10,000. They got 1,000. In Pittsburgh, the McCain rally was sparsely populated again, a mere 1,500 in an area he desperately needs to dominate. The McCain campaign is trying to spin this as an effect of Get Out the Vote efforts: nobody is showing up at the rallies because they are all out working on GOTV. This is laughable. It's well known by now that the McCain ground campaign is in disarray, and it further begs the question why Obama can still fill stadiums and city squares with tens of thousands, while the ground war juggernaut pushes on with canvassers everywhere and phone banks filled to capacity.

The explanation is rather more simple: the bottom has fallen out of the McCain campaign. At the end of last week, they made their final blunbder in a long list of missteps and blunders: they inflated their followers expectations for a tightening race too early. As soon as the Sunday polls started coming out with big Obama leads, the affective and emotional energy that the McCain campaign needed from its base collapsed in a heap. They would not be going into election day 3 or 4 points down, but seven, nine, eleven points down: hopeless. So is there anything more depressing than going to the campaign rally of a losing candidate? No. It is as depressing as can be, a sign that your political program is being roundly rejected by the voters, and that all your work has been for naught. And that's what we're seeing today: the complete collapse of temporary disorder that afflicted the American polity for a short time in September and October of 2008: McCain-Palinism. By this time Wednesday they will be a laughingstock, and the whole GOP political philosophy along with them.

Keep working! Push on, brothers and sisters. YES WE CAN to justice and equality!!!

But know this: Monday, November 3 is the collapse of a political ideology, as it shuffles off into irrelevance. YOU DID THIS!!! Your hard work and tireless devotion to justice. Keep it up for thirty more hours, and our reward shall be in this life and in this country. YES WE CAN heal this nation.

YES WE CAN repair this world.

OBAMA/BIDEN 08 kiddos. Let's make it happen!!!
